Responsive, professional, and friendly communication. Beautiful property with the touch of a crew with attention to detail. We were passing through on our way home from vacation and this was a perfect alternative to a dreary hotel room. I would recommend for a short or long stay.

Historic white oak cabin…

My husband and I stayed one night at the White Oak cabin on this lovely, historic property. The hospitality was wonderful, and the charcuterie tray in the room was perfect…. We loved the history and the preservation of it… As well as the modern or artistic accents. It felt a bit cramped for us, and perhaps the steep steps and super soft mattress, kept us from giving it a five star rating. One of the highlights was the walk in the woods early this morning.

Pleasant Stay

It was a pleasant experience. The whole concept of the Ridge is a great idea. The atmosphere was very peacefully. I was traveling alone and was a little concerned at times. The other door that doesn’t lock was quite concerning. The water pressure and Wi-Fi were the only bad things I can say but in the scheme of things, compared to 1850 it was luxurious. I would stay again but not alone.

Had a great time

It’s such a small quaint little cabin !! It was truly enjoyable to me ! My husband and I had a couple of laughs with this place and getting out of the bed and hitting our heads on the rafters but it was truly enjoyable and I enjoyed laughing at one another! Nobody was hurt just little bumps. We had fun and you got to check out the German restaurant in town so cool to go to !! Enjoyed my stay immensely

Relaxing stay

You can hear faint road noise, but overall it’s quiet. The property is beautiful and very well kept. It’s clearly a labor of love restoring these old and diverse homes. I was able to tour the fancy Rittick house, which was a mix of fancy and whimsy. Looked like a great spot for wedding events. There is frequent mowing and yard work to keep it looking great. There are several interconnecting trails through the woods to see old earthworks from the civil war. Nice place to stretch the legs. Enjoyed the fire pit and making s’mores and roasted corn. First night the wood and newspaper were damp and there were no batches or lighter so starting the fire proved a challenge. The owner came over and brought some dry kindling, which got the fire going. The bed was comfortable. You had to duck to get in the bed, because the ceiling is very low and sloped. Adds to the charm as long as you’re flexible and mindful. The stairs are steep with narrow tread depth but there’s a very sturdy railing. The AC kept the cabin very comfortable when temps outside were mid 90s. The toilet is really in the living room behind a curtain as is the cast iron tub/shower (which was a little challenging to get in/out of due to the slick tub). I brought a card table to do a large puzzle on the rainy afternoon. There was no daily housekeeping, but you could ask for things and leave bagged trash on porch to be taken away. I needed to ask for wood replacement for fire pit several times and for replacement of the mini shampoo bottle and a clean wash cloth. 8 days without refreshing linens, towels, mini toiletries was a long time. Might have been nice to just have left extras in the cabin from the get go, i.e. anticipate the likely needs. I didn’t feel like having to call each time I wished for something, but I’m sure if I did they’d have fixed it. I tried breakfast on the first day. It arrived on time and in a basket. It’s a nice option if you like the idea of chef’s choice surprise breakfast items. Lots of people with pets. Mostly well behaved. One dog owner left their large doggie’s business within smell shot of my fire pit and seating which was gross. The mini fridge had a lot of ice in the freezer part, and the resulting melting made a mess. They had left some snacks which was great. There were also coffee and tea available. I enjoyed my time and would return and check out another cabin. I like supporting their efforts to preserve some old houses.

A Journey Back in Time

We loved the entire experience. Everyone was delightful, and the process was so easy, even when we had to upgrade to a larger cabin. ( So glad we did! I loved the Bedford. ) The breakfast delivery was fun and wow, what an omelet! Probably the best I've ever had. Super clean cabin.
