My Traditional Stone-built Mansion in Karyes was originally built in 1902 by my grandfather.Ī¤he whole building was renovated from scrath by my family, but with us keeping all the old stone walls that my grandfather put together. The original marble stone carved from the craftsmen in 1902, still decorates the front porch and within its 4,000 square meters garden, it will be a delightful experience for you and your friends to sit back, relax & enjoy your recriational days in the mountains.
The space
My house is situated the northwestern slopes of Mt. Parnon, at an altitude of 900 m., lies Karyes, a pretty village near the site of the ancient town with the same name where Artemis Karyatis was worshipped. The goddess was accompanied by the virgin Caryatid nymphs, whose statues adorned the Erechthion of the Acropolis at Athens. At the village there is a copy of the Erechthion and the statues.
Ī¤he region of Lakonia occupies almost identical boundaries to the powerful mountain-skirted kingdom ruled by King Menelaus in Mycenaean times. It is home to legends, including the city of Sparta, plus the spectacular ruins of Mystras, the Byzantine Empireās last stronghold.
