Enjoyed it all, but check in was somewhat inconvenient. We arrived an hour early and checked in, then sat with bubbly (thank you) in lobby as we waited to be texted for our keys to 2 rooms. When texted to pick up keys, the receptionist was annoyed that I went directly to the desk to pick up the keys to only 1 room. She told me I should get in line when I got text for keys to 2nd room. Really? After having stood in line before checking in? It was almost 1.5 hours later before we had the keys to both rooms and the line was ridiculous. Checking in shouldn't be this inconvenient.

Dear Diana, Thank you kindly for your feedback following your recent stay with us here at The Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa. While I am pleased to see that your score is an overall favorable one and I am glad to see you generally enjoyed your time with us, I am sorry to read of your frustrations felt at the Front Desk when collecting your room key. I do apologize if the impression you received from our colleague was one of annoyance but am sure this was not their intention and that they were simply trying to manage the expectations of our other guests at the time. Unfortunately we cannot always control the arrival times of our guests and when we receive large volumes in a short space of time then the impact on the operation does become more noticeable and for this I apologize. We do very much hope to be able to welcome you back in the near future to allow us the opportunity to restore your faith in our arrival experience. Until then, I wish you all the very best and a happy 2019. Kind regards, William Ellis Front Desk Manager

Yes I went for the cheapest room that was offered - a Queen with comp'd bottle of wine and free parking. However, I am not sure how often this particular Queen bed has been used but the mattress and pillows sucked. I am convinced the mattress dates back to when the Sonoma Inn was an actual mission back in the day. My husband and fell into the center and tossed and turned the entire night. He was so miserable the next day (his birthday) that he almost canceled golf - which was the predominant point of our stay.

Thanksgiving

Pros: Location is great, staff is amazing, grounds are lovely.
Cons: Some upgrades needed to the rooms like a large fridge, and in our suite there was a bar but no sink?
Location: Of course the wineries and small local shops.
For a Fairmont the staff and service were wonderful. Must admit that Thanksgiving Buffet was WAY over priced, We did not check the cost until we got our check. Two dinners and a bottle of champagne and it was $400. Just a tad much for two vegetarians but that will teach us next time. Accomodations are nice, hotel could use some upgrades, but overall we really enoyed our stay. They gave us a complimentary upgrade to the Harvest Suite, which was and odd room but huge and the fireplace made it quite cozy. We were treated with respect and familiarity and that is what you would expect from a Fairmont.

Thank you for your post. I am so sorry for your disappointment regarding the value at our Santé Grand Buffet. We do aim to provide exceptional value with an amazing selection of cuisine, live entertainment and warm, engaging service. We appreciate your feedback very much and read all reviews so we may use our valuable guest feedback to improve our offerings even more. We do hope to welcome you back to our resort again.

Not like the pictures!

I'm sorry to say that we were disappointed in this hotel. Although the service was wonderful, the rooms were extremely small, with no balconies to sit out and enjoy a glass of wine. So small, in fact that there was not even room for a reading chair. Also, the fine dining room, was extremely expensive for the small, average meal that was presented. Half a bottle of wine was costly, and not very good. I would not recommend this hotel.

The Hotel was ok for the PRICE.....

Pros: Free Internet, Quiet
Cons: Nothing close
The property was nice but, the room was ok. We had a vintage style room. The hallways looked old and the carpert was worn out. Staff was excellent and the lobby was nice. As much as the rooms cost they should remodel the inn rooms asap......

Indulgent yet rustic resort

Pros: Close restaurants, Quiet, afternoon winetastings
The Fairmont Sonoma Mission is a wonderful resort. The fitness, pool and other facilities are great and kept very clean. The service, including concierge is excellent. I recommend upgrading to one of the fireplace suites. Well worth it!

A wonderful experience.

Pros: Close restaurants, Quiet
The room was so comforting with all of the comforts of a luxury spa yet affordable. The lobby and staff were so warm and the decor is to accomodate conversation or private romance. The wine tastings in the evening were so fun. I would recommend it to everyone.

A wonderful oasis in Sonoma

Pros: Close restaurants, Quiet
Great spa, great pool, friendly staff, excellent concierge. Driving to it the neighborhood is a bit rough, but a really wonderful place once you're there. Location in Sonoma makes wine tasting in both Sonoma and Napa easy. Wouldn't hesitate to go back.
