The house is located in the mountains in Sonnino, with an olive grove in front and a woods and stream on the other side of the house. It really is a magical place. There’s plenty to see and do in the area, from amazing beaches (Sabaudia being my favorite) to a cold natural sulfur pond, where you can enjoy swimming in really cold water—which is fantastic in July and August. Rome is just an hour away by train, and Naples is a bit farther, so it’s great to take a day trip to either city. There’s also an abbey (Abbazia di Fossanova) about a ten-minute drive from the house; there you’ll find a bar and a couple of good restaurants, and of course, the abbey itself is truly beautiful. The great thing about staying at Fairy House is that it’s like having two vacations in one—you can spend the whole day at the beach and then return to the tranquility of the mountains to enjoy dinner on the rooftop terrace with amazing views.
