I have never given a 1 star review but this place deserved it — I’m not even sure where to start. The noise: construction all hours of the day. The view from room is a construction site 10 feet away, terrible view and the loud banging in the morning is incredibly frustrating and makes it very hard to sleep. Room: The bed was hard as a rock. Everything is done through an app, including unlocking and locking your room. We were locked IN our room for over 30 minutes on our first morning. It was extremely unsafe. Amenities: They have a rooftop pool that was booked up everyday of our 5-day stay. However when we went to look at it, it was a TINY pool with a view of construction and cranes. The pool club was nice, but it was a bit further of a walk than advertised due to the construction. All of the pictures on the site are of the pool club, not of the hotel, so it’s VERY misleading. Nor is the construction noted. We were so excited for this hotel (even had family come to stay and book rooms) but when we arrived, our jaws dropped. Definitely recommend looking up other hotels.

The hotel is fantastic, modern, clean with great facilities. The breakfast buffet was also good with plenty of options and the food was good quality. The staff were all friendly, polite and always happy to help. The hotel even puts on complimentary excursions, we went on two. The first was a walking food tour around Sliema, it was great to see the side streets away from the busy tourist strips and try some local food. The second was a vintage bus tour. I didn’t really know what to expect, but it far surpassed any expectations. The trip was around 4 hours and we saw parts of Malta that we otherwise would not have seen. I highly recommend anyone staying at the hotel to do this excursion. Unfortunately there are building work everywhere in Sliema, including right next to the hotel. This makes it difficult to totally relax when using the rooftop pool due to the noise. I cannot fault anything inside the hotel. Unfortunately the building work is unavoidable and outside of the hotel’s control. Had there of not been the building work, it would have been a perfect holiday.

What We Liked: * The spa was excellent – relaxing and well-maintained. * Enjoyed the Molton Brown toiletries – a lovely touch. * The sushi was fresh and delicious. * The staff working at the rooftop pool was particularly welcoming. * The bus tour was a highlight – well-organized and a great way to explore. * The bar was pleasant, though not extraordinary. * The luggage staff were nice Areas for Improvement: * Dinner reservation communication was unclear, and we didn’t receive confirmation despite requesting it and had to ask again - then told we were on a waiting list - which is fine but the lack of communication was not great * The complimentary wine was a nice touch, but when we politely asked to switch from red to white, the response felt rude and unnecessarily judgmental. A simple "no" would have sufficed. * Our shower flooded on every use which made the bathroom uncomfortable. * The reservation system seemed disjointed – cancellations via chat weren’t properly relayed to the pool team. * The beach club felt run-down, and staff at the sunbed area were not welcoming * The issue with credit not being pre-authorized and they held it saying itd be a holding charge but then they took the full payment out - we tried to resolve on checkout and was met with a condescending tone and minimal apology. There is also not enough explanation on why i was charged.

Modern clean hotel

The hotel is very clean and modern with only hangong space and no drawers. My room was one of the smaller doubles and looked out onto building work which started before 8 most mornings so it was a bit noisy. The fiod at the beachclub is very good but it is a 5 minute walk away.

Don't recommend

For the price point I would not recommend this hotel. The room was very small. Lots of noise in the hallway and you can hear your neighbor in the other rooms. Breakfast was very very bad, very poor selection. The staff was good, location good. I think most people stay here for the pool club. This hotel does large tour groups, so many mornings the lobby and breakfast was over crowded. I would not recommend this hotel. There are many nice hotels in Malta for a better price and experience. There is currently a large construction project across the street, so if you have a room by the street you hear this construction.

Perfect spot, just check your room location!

The room was more basic then expected, it could do with a little paint. Our room was right opposite a building site so it was quite noisy in the mornings not great when arriving late the night before. It also meant we couldn't open the curtains or doors. Maybe a heads up to guests would be good. Otherwise the spa was great and treatments booked. As well well as the location, beachclub and breakfast.

A Real Let Down

The hotel try’s to market itself as high end but more 3 star. Interior finishes were poorly done and many small issues such as leaking roof in utility, broken door handle to bedroom terrace that could not be locked. The new App basically does not work when trying to book things and Whats App messages are removed if negative. Free benefits like roof top area impossible to book but if you are searching for a paid for service that is easy to achieve. After first night we disengaged and spent no further money with the hotel - just a place to sleep on a building site.

This hotel is lovely and you can tell it was design to be of a high standard but it is getting a bit worn. Lots of marks and patches up holes on the walls of the room, quick fixes to things like glass shower screens that have come out of place, etc… having said that the bed was extremely comfortable and clean. We went over the bank holiday weekend in May, so appreciate it is the start of the season however the beach club with getting built around us with drilling, painting and stocking of the bar. It almost felt like we were getting in their way being there. The staff though were extremely friendly and helpful, and I could speak more highly of them!

Very good hotel. Would recommend but you do need to book a top floor if you want any view. Lots and lots of building work is going on in the area but did not disturb us. Food is excellent and service is superb. Small roof pool and spa are good. But beach club and pool overlooking the sea is only open may to October. Which is a walk away from the hotel not adjacent.

Pleasant stay in building site

Despite the hotel being in an extremely built up area - well, to be honest, a noisy building site in which we counted 37 cranes- the staff made our stay very pleasant

Fine, but so noisy we wouldn’t return

The place was nice enough, it was just so noisy. The reception is glass, marble and high ceilings - we were on the first floor and could hear talking, furniture moving all the time. Each of the 3 nights we stayed, we were woken at 3am by people coming in and talking loudly in reception and then again at 5am by furniture moving, maybe setting up the breakfast service.

7 nights in Malta

Summary ~€930 for 8 nights in a ‘Superior’ room at the 1926 (which includes breakfast buffet). Bit overpriced, but pros and cons average it out. As others have mentioned, be aware of ongoing construction before you book! Pros - Great friendly service, from reception to breakfast to cleaners - Good location for Ferry to Valetta or buses in either direction. Also near to Spar/Lidl and a range of bars/restaurants. - Decent Sauna/Steam rooms - Comfy bed - Excursions. Hotel offered food tour/trip to Mdina/Marslaxlokk. We didn’t attend these trips but could interest others - Good hotel gym - Cardless entry and self checkout Cons - Ongoing construction so noises start and end late, even on weekends - Pools are very small. The one on the terrace is only 80cm deep. Not many sun loungers, and these all seemed to be reserved quickly - small and few lifts - small spa area and only opened between 8-8. - terrace only opened between 10-4!! - the check in form on the iPad is incredibly frustrating to fill out (selected dial code especially) - we were next to the staff room and there was a lot of noise and chatter - the rooms aren’t well soundproofed. Can hear neighbours shuffling chairs for example - breakfast buffet choices are limited. There are extras on the a la carte menu. - the flexible shower head was rough at the edges. I managed to scratch myself on the first use as I wasn’t aware initially. - one big water bottle for the room for the entire stay

This is a decent hotel with a good breakfast. My bathroom extractor didn't work. There is building work on-going right next door to the hotel. They started work at 6:45 am. Also work going on, on Saturday mornings. The staff are the best thing about this hotel - all very friendly and willing to help.
