Slagelse is also home to one of Denmark's largest barracks, so you can experience the guard hussars riding through the town every Wednesday. If you are a Viking, it is worth visiting Trelleborg Viking Castle near Hejninge, which is working towards being listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is very interesting.
