Nice location & helpful staff

Thanks to the hotel management, I got the booking amended without any charges. I had to change the check-in date because I had to attend my close relative's funeral. I consulted it with staff. They are helpful and understanding. The hotel itself has all you need. Nice location with the food street & 7-11 at the other end. This is my third times staying at this hotel.

Good location

Being in the heart of Chinatown in a hotel that was the old Chinese opera theatre before being renovated means atmosphere but also means very small room with some noise from the street and the only nearby breakfast locations selling traditional coffee and "kaya" toast or Chinese breakfast. Have stayed there before and will stay there again but it probably would not suit many travellers.

Unique boutique hotel in the heart of Chinatown

The hotel is in one of those refurbished shophouses in Chinatown. There are many restaurants and hawker stalls right in front of the hotel. The interior design of the hotel is super unique and comfy.

Nice budget stay

The staff are wonderful, I stayed for 5 nights with my 7 y.o. granddaughter. The room that I had booked was very small with a double bed and only room to walk around the edge of the bed so I upgraded after 1 night to a larger room with a queen bed and considerably more room and much larger bathroom and balcony. I love the ambience of this old Chinese opera house and the beautiful red decore. Fantastic location above food Street. AC was great the beds are a little hard the rooms are extremely well cleaned and the staff are child friendly. There is a tea and coffee station on each floor an numerous well appointed lounge areas.

Staff could be better

When I asked the hotel staff for recommendations in Singapore, they seemed to have no clues and did not give my any concrete advice, not even the touristic ones. The hotel room is quite small but it is understandable given its price. Still I think for this kind of comfort and room size, I would not recommend people to choose this hotel.

In the heart of China town. Classic style lobby.

I stayed at single room. A little bit tiny but ok. Full of facility. Wifi signal in my first room was very poor so I have to move the another which have better signal. Easy to walk around Chinatown.

Great hotel and would stay there again

Great hotel, wonderful staff and excellent location. Great value for money, is quite noisy due to being on main Chinatown street but being from London I didn't mind it at all. The noise is well worth being central to everything you could want including the MRT station (2mins walk).

Chinatown-Santa Grand

Staff are very friendly, advised where cheap eateries are, able to offer discount ticketing for tourists. If raining, can even borrow umbrellas. Hotel decor is unique, as hotel was an old Chinese Opera Theatre. very enjoyable stay.

OVERALL GOOD stay

original room was not suitable, very small and smelled moldy, but again it IS the equator. Staff did offer to change rooms, much better overall. carpet could gave been cleaner. Overall was good stay. Great location, entertaining, culturals sites, AND street food.

Overpriced like everything in Singapore

For sure, great location, everything is close: buses, subway, food, fun, spas, etc. But rooms are small, feels like you are sleeping in a dog cage, no windows, dark, making depress and confused about time all the time, smell of old building. This hotel could be nice for students and low income people if price was lower.

Strategic location in the middle of Chinatown

Located in the middle of Chinatown market, it was hard to find among kiosks and small restaurants. But, once you find it, it's easy and close to MRT station. A great place to enjoy Chinese food and shopping souvenirs.

Best value for money

In the middle of Chinatown with an open street food court on your door step this hotel is ideal for a short stay in Singapore. Central with train station right by, clean tidy an with character I would definitely recommend it! The plus is the airport shuttle that can get you there for $9 too easy!

Charming but dark reboot of Chinese Opera

Stayed between other hotels and needed affordable lodging. Location is amazing, layout of hotel is interesting as it used to be the Chinese Opera hall. Cheapest rooms are v/ small without windows.
