Once we arrived and got checked in the stay was wonderful. We were delayed arriving due to severe weather and they had to reactivate our reservation which was a little concerning. The facilities were excellent, we used the indoor pool twice during our stay and thoroughly enjoyed it. The only real complaint we had was the cost of breakfast our first morning, the only time we ate at the hotel. It cost us over $100.00 for a buffet that did not have much of a selection, rather disappointed in that. Otherwise the stay was terrific.

Entire stay was wonderful. Staff goes above and beyond and is so friendly! Room was very comfortable and very clean; in-room coffee maker was the best! We took advantage of the bikes available at the hotel. It was so easy getting around town with the bikes! The location of this hotel is just perfect. So close to all the museums and the National Mall and The Wharf with over 15 different restaurants right on the water. Overall we had an excellent stay and if we ever make it back to DC we will definitely come stay at the Salamander again!

The hotel appears to have been recently renovated — it's clean, and the staff are responsive and friendly. However, the breakfast restaurant feels more like a motel-level setup, despite being quite expensive. The surrounding area is desolate, with empty buildings and even a railway running nearby. That said, it's a good choice for travelers who simply want a quiet and clean place to stay.
