A lovely stay at the old post office
We had a girls weekend away here and the house was a great place to relax and explore the area. It’s based in a beautiful village with 2 excellent pubs on the doorstep and also a great circular walk to the highest point in warwickshire. The house was clean upon arrival, was well equipped. The only slight let down of the house is the bathroom situation. There is a shower in the bathroom of the en-suite of the main bedroom, but other wise it’s baths or a handheld shower from sitting in the bath height over a bath. As you can imagine not ideal with 7 women all wanting to shower. That would be the only thing I would change to improve the stay. Overall we had a lovely time

Great for a family
The house is lovely great position . Kitchen really well equipped and good area for eating. Lovely to have a wood burner .
Bedrooms are a good size . The downside is only one shower and a hand held shower head with bath . Also the pillows are terrible lucky I brought my own . The sheets have definitely seen better days . So pillows and sheets need replacing they are very old .
We did enjoy our stay and would go back if the shower situation and linen and pillows were replaced.

Would absolutely recommend
Beautiful property, very well maintained in a lovely village with two good pubs- Would absolutely stay here again.
Kitchen, Well appointed lots of crockery, cutlery, et cetera and beautiful entrance to the garden area which made eating outside work really effectively.
A few things to note- there is actually only one shower in the property- This was really inconvenient with four couples. The bathroom on the top floor has a handheld shower which is just not suitable with eight adults in a house.
Also it would be lovely to have some more products in the bathrooms- there was hand wash but I would like to have seen at least some shower gel, shampoo and conditioner.
Lovely cake was there on arrival which was a super treat and tea and coffee available which was great.
Cannot recommend highly enough; felt homely, wonderfully decorated and a lovely location.

Great group getaway
Great getaway for a group of friends. Flexible accommodation with 2 doubles 2 twins. Spacious, stylish, and recently refurbished. Excellent pub on doorstep.
I went away for my birthday for a wholesome weekend with 7 other school friends. The house was gorgeous , plenty of space for everyone and a great space for dinners and games by the fire with the big comfy sofas! We were also a short 1 min walk to The Howard Arms for a lovely dinner and Saturday night treat. There are also some lovely easy walks to do from AllTrails, and it’s a short drive to lovely spots like Bouton on the water. Overall we had an epic stay - not enough sun to enjoy the garden or balcony. The cake and milk on arrival + tea and coffee was a lovely touch. My only improvements would be a bigger and better front door matt & having more showers - there was only one, as most bathrooms had a Bath! Thank you so much. Would come back in a heartbeat

The Old Post Office
The Cottage in Ilminster was a specious ;well equipped and maintained house.
We were seven adults with one child and the house accommodated us easily. There was sufficient crockery etc. not to have to wash up by hand .
The showers were a nuisance . The one in the upper bathroom either froze or scalded you . The only other shower was en suite and thus difficult for the other five adults who had to wait to use it . My daughter in law left more accurate details of the shower problems (one also leaked a little) in each bathroom.
All in all I would recommend it to friends .

Family New Years break
The house is beautifully decorated and furnished. It was well equipped with everything we needed. Spacious enough for our family of 8. The location was great and we had a lovely meal at the nearby Howard Arms. The community shop was so handy and the staff we so welcoming.

Old Post Office Ideal venue for family of 7 to celebrate Christmas.
This property is situated in the Cotswolds less than 15 miles from Stratford.
Situated in a village with a shop and two pubs and 4 miles away from the town of Shipston.
The house is spacious, comfortable and warm thanks to the aga.
The neighbours and villages are welcoming and friendly. The pubs are too
All in all a brilliant property

Lounge furniture
I found the lounge furniture uncomfortable because I have a bad back. Some more upright alternatives would have been preferable.
If the family had been staying for longer another shower would have been helpful.
Generally we were all very happy with the property.

Thank you for a great long weekend at The Old Post Office.
We were a group of 7 family members enjoying a weekend together.
The accommodation was spacious and immaculate. It had everything we needed.
The location was peaceful with a lovely local shop/cafe and pub where we enjoyed a tasty roast.
We enjoyed walks in Ilmington, Broadway to the tower, Chipping Campden and Moreton in Marsh.
I would highly recommend The Old Post Office if you are looking for a lovely place to stay.

Fabulous family weekend
Loved the Old Post Office. Beautiful and comfortable property - exactly as described. Ilmington is a beautiful village with lovely pubs and community shop. Great location for walking/trail running and close to Stratford-upon-Avon and Waitrose. Great manager who was very sympathetic and helpful when we realised we’d left a bunch of keys at the property! Would highly recommend. We will return! Thank you.

Beautiful and welcoming house
The Old Post Office is really welcoming from the moment you step through the front door. It’s warm, comfortable, spacious and beautifully decorated with a well-equipped kitchen, comfortable beds and great bathrooms. It had plenty of room for our party of seven and we had a very relaxing weekend. We didn’t venture far but walked from the door in pretty Ilmington and walked from NT Dover’s Hill into Chipping Campden. We hope to return again next year.

Family Do
Three generations of our family spent a wonderful long weekend at the Old Post Office. The accommodation was spacious, comfortable and well equipped with a great outdoor space where we enjoyed a BBQ. A home from home which was very easy to relax in.
The village was peaceful and charming with 2 very good pubs ( with great beer gardens) and a shop which offered a good choice and great service. Sunday lunch was particularly good at The Howard Arms.
We were spoilt for choice of places to visit and fitted in lots of great activities and sites to suit all generations without too much travelling time.
Do not be deterred by the lack of dedicated parking for this property as we had 3 vehicles and never had an issue parking near by.
Spacious, well equipped and stylish cottage with fantastic facilities, huge kitchen and all mod cons. We enjoyed our short stay very much.
If you are tall beware the shortish doorways. The house was spotlessly clean and had great communal spaces, lots of comfortable chairs and sofas, enormous tables good for eating and playing board games. About 50 yds from the pub which served a good meal on Sunday evening.
Loved the village shop with local bread, veg and spirits!
Pretty village and plenty of things to do in the area.

A fantastic cottage in a lovely village
I booked the Old Post Office for my 70th birthday celebration with family & friends & was not disappointed. The cottage was spacious & beautifully appointed. It was warm & inviting with a chocolate cake wine & other goodies awaiting us. The bed linen & towels were luxurious & plentiful. It was less than a minute from a pub/restaurant where we had an excellent Sunday lunch. There was also a very well stocked community run shop just a 10 minute walk away. The village itself was extremely pretty & very quiet & peaceful. I highly recommend both the cottage & it’s location.

Fabulous cottage for a lowkey girls weekend
The cotttage was beautiful and very well equipped. The space was huge and perfect for 8 friends sharing.
Some minor grievances:
- Parking arrangements were slightly annoying - you are advised not to park in front of the neighbours houses but there is nothing to stop someone from parking in front of your home (which someone did for the whole time we stayed). The car park we were advised to park in was also full when we arrived.
- The house would benefit from another shower as we all had to use the one in the master bedroom.
- The bed in the master bedroom was extremely creaky too and impacted quality of sleep.
The cottage is as full of old world charm inside as it is from the outside. It is warm and cosy, comfortable, immaculately clean and tidy. There is only one space for parking immediately outside the property but we knew that in advance and not uncommon in a small village and anyway we always found parking close outside the pub. Cooking is on an Aga which we are a bit unused to in terms of controlling the heat and it does take longer, however it added to the charm as well :-)
