Let me start by saying, it is with great regret and surprise that I find myself writing this review of a hotel in Japan.
First the positives. The hotel is very near to the port, only a few kilometers from it and has a great view of the ocean. There is bus pickup to the hotel. There were also at least two ladies at the front desk that were very kind and professional.
Now the negatives. The hotel staff were accommodating when a request was made but only out of obligations not courtesy. It was quite obvious they felt it was an annoyance to them to spend anything more than two minutes assisting you. I could understand this during a busy season, but there were no other guests at reception. The hotel is old and dated. I don't mean old and quaint, I mean dated. There is no internet in the rooms which is fine but for the fact the internet in the lobby did not work. Here's my greatest issue with this hotel. Japan is the land that sets the standard for courtesy and professionalism. But for two ladies that were courteous, the others at reception were "extremely rude." I was left standing at the reception desk on two occasions, "purposely" until I left. On both occasions I was looking for information on how to go from the hotel to the bus so that I could get to the port on the opposite side of the island. The second time I did not leave.
