It’s a heritage building in a great area. Room was clean but a bit tired and old fashioned. The bathhouse/Onsen area was very small but clean, needs a good spruce up, it looks quite run down, needs some more work to make it more attractive. Breakfast was good selection.

I stayed at the Okura Garden Hotel Shanghai for nearly a month and had a wonderful experience. The bedding was very comfortable, the room was kept spotlessly clean, and the indoor swimming pool was my favorite part of the hotel. The housekeeping staff were exceptionally friendly and attentive. Perfect stay for Shanghai

I stayed in the Okura Garden Hotel for 5 nights whilst exploring Shanghai and seeing friends - and have no regrets with my choice. The location is perfect for exploring the French concession area, with a vibrant coffee/cafe, brunch and bar culture - you won’t be able to experience them all! It’s a 2 min walk away from South Shanxi station making travel easy from the airport and to explore further afield. The hotel itself is classic and traditional in style, but still has the feeling of being recently renovated - the pool, sauna and jacuzzi were highlights in particular. If you’re not too keen on staying in a super crowded and touristy location (ie Nanjing Road) and want to experience a vibrant Shanghai neighbourhood this is for you!

Beautiful, elegant and historic hotel within a well landscaped garden which is rare in Shanghai. Well preserved grand building in the former French Quarter and close to boutiques for lovely “qipaos” and fashionable clothes .
