The cleaning staff were the nicest! My key card was de-magnetized and the women in charge of cleaning, immediately got me a new one. The night staff were friendly and courteous. Unfortunately I can't say the same for day staff. Chris was rude as I heard and saw him mocking me regarding our recent encounter. My toilet needed repair and we had roaches in our room. He only offered to move us to another room which I declined. They had a roach problem so it wouldn't matter what room we stayed in. I was able to kill the ones I saw but it was very, very , very unsettling to stay there. I've stayed in other hotels in Florida and didn't have any roaches. Also, there seemed to never be anyone at the desk. Always a sign saying someone would be with you shortly, or something to that affect. Was locked in the pool area because the doors were locked from the inside. And yes, it was during the time the pool was supposedly open. Let's see, I was late for breakfast and was not allowed to get any however, when I returned about half hour later after having to go out for breakfast, the food was just being put away. I ask the attendant if they throw the food out and she said no, it would go to the staff to eat. I was not happy to hear that since I was told by Chris at front desk, breakfast was over. I guess it wasn't for the staff though, only for paying guests. Not a good stay and I wouldn't stay there again. Maybe other guests had a good experience, but we did not.

We here at Best Western Plus want to thank you for your feedback! We always greatly appreciate ways to improve, or acknowledgement of what we're doing right. We'd love to also address your areas of concern, as we want to make sure these issues are taken care of or clarified to you. Our cleaning crew corresponds with our front desk staff in order to allow you in your room when you lock yourself out/deactivate your key. Therefore, someone had to be present at the front desk in order to allow our HK staff to grant you access to your room. We are very happy that they were able to work together to help you! Furthermore, our hotel is not infested with roaches/insects. We do live in the state of Florida, which means every building structure is bound to have some insect issue at some point in time. It is unfortunate that you saw some in your room, and if you allowed us to move you, you'd have been pleasantly surprised with the outcome of having no insects. We're very happy that you have had the fortune of not having this problem in the state of Florida until now. As for our front desk, we do have a side room that allows the staff to be out of sight, but still have eyes on the front desk. So if no one was there at the physical desk, they were just a few feet over keeping eyes on anyone who makes an effort to approach the desk. The sign you are referring to, the one that states "our staff will be with your shortly," never comes down. It is permanently up at the front desk and does not mean that no one can help you while it is up. Please approach us! We'd love to help! Our pool doors are always open during our designated times. During your encounter here with us, you had to open the unlocked door to get out to the pool. We would never lock you in once you've entered our pool area. Our front desk agent, who was attentive at the front desk, saw you having trouble with our doors, and came to help you. The doors were never locked, as she opened the unlocked door to show you the way out. Lastly, breakfast is served at our location 6:30am-9:30am. We inform all of our paying guests at check-in, and there's a large plaque also informing our guests of this as they walk in. Once 9:30am hits, we turn our burners off and begin our clean-up process. Our food is no longer kept at the temperature we are allowed to serve to our guests, according to the Florida Health Department. It is a liability to serve the food to you once it is not at that temperature, and we here at the Best Western do not want you to fall ill. You came down at 10:30am asking for breakfast, a full hour after our burners were turned off. Unfortunately, if you saw food an hour after 9:30am, not even our staff would eat it, as we are not exceptions to falling ill. As for our front desk agent Chris, we will make sure we investigate and deal with your concerns in regards to how he spoke to you. We do not tolerate that kind of behavior here at our location. The dining area was wonderful. The staff were extremely helpful and accommodating. They even provided beach chairs and an umbrella for the beach. This was one of the best hotel stays I have experienced.

i was guaranteed a room with a jetted tub. Upon arrival i was told all rooms with the tubs were occupied!! :'(

Ver nice clean hotel. Rooms were very roomy. Lots of room to move around and sit. Complimentary breakfast was good and lots to choose from. Was well kept and clean. Would recommend this hotel and stay again if in that area. Close to restaurants and downtown Venice.
