Disappointing Stay – Not Recommended We recently spent 16 days at this resort, and unfortunately, it fell far short of expectations. While there were a few positives, poor management and avoidable issues overshadowed our experience. Food Quality & Safety: The food was below average, with very limited options. Despite requesting no pork due to dietary restrictions, pork still ended up on our plates. Mislabeled buffet dishes presented a serious health hazard, particularly for those with allergies. Staff & Service: The front desk staff were unhelpful, condescending, and lacked basic hospitality. No one welcomed us upon arrival or asked about our stay during checkout. Most staff spoke no English, creating a significant communication barrier. Many appeared overworked, tired, and borderline rude, though the cleaning staff were a standout—always smiling, helpful, and pleasant. Facilities & Power Outages: The constant power cuts were the biggest frustration. Outages happened multiple times daily, leaving us without Wi-Fi, lights, TV, or running water. After returning from safari excursions, we couldn’t even shower—completely unacceptable. Highlights: The rooms were clean, spacious, and very comfortable. The animation team was fun, with a great Lion King show. The location is another plus, with beaches and restaurants just a 15-minute drive away. Resort has potential, but the lack of training and management issues ruin the experience.Until improvements are made hard to recommen

The food and customer service were excellent, but our stay was overshadowed by high-pressure membership sales, which made us feel uncomfortable. Additionally, our room had no water in the shower upon arrival, the phone was non-functional, and the electricity kept cutting out at night. It's my third time on this property on 2024, I guess you can imagine how much I like this place. They make you feel like family and taking into consideration it's not a huge property you end knowing everybody. The food is good and this time I noticed great improvements in this topic related to presentation and quality of food. The animation team is absolutely the best thing of this Hotel. They are funny, creative and always go the extra mile to keep you entertained. Property gives you a great vibe and the beach is pretty but definitely summer is the best time to enjoy it. I'll keep going back to my home away from home. Special thanks to Leo, Luis Enrique (bar), Ariel, Wagner (sports), Mar, Shelly, Iamdra and Sofia. See u soon!

First I want to say, everyone I spoke to was kind, attentive, and had a positive attitude. The only person that was rude was viva membership people that didn’t even acknowledge my wife. Other than that whatever they advised was badly executed or false. 1. The food was not good, the quality of the food in the buffet was very poor and honestly my wife only ate fruit the entire trip. The dining restaurants weren’t any better. 2. There is no hot water in the bathrooms max is room temperature and the water pressure is really low. 3. We paid for a bungalow because on their website it states there’s a private heated pool which was false we thought ours was broken and when we asked they said no pools are heated. 3. The floor around the pool are very beautiful but my wife and I were holding on to each other to not slip and fall. 4. Room service was so slow, one day we called for towels and to order food and no one answered the phone the entire day we called all throughout the day. I ended up going to the front desk and asking for towels and we got them several hours later. This is a place I wouldn’t recommend to friends and family.

The check-in process was absolutely awful. I was told I needed to contact the hotel to add people to my room, which was booked for two. I messaged the hotel and have yet to receive a response. When I arrived my room guests were told they needed to pay a ridiculous fee which totaled to more than my room reservation, for a room that was already paid for. When I complained to Eugenio, the supervisor on duty at the time of check-in, he was extraordinarily rude and dismissive, stating that if I had any issues I could contact Expedia since I booked through them. When I asked for my reservation to be canceled and a refund to be issued as I bo longer wished to stay at the property, he was once again rude and dismissive, telling me to contact Expedia because there was nothing he could do for me. I proceeded to have my other guests check into the Sublime Hotel next door, who was so incredibly accommodating and helpful. We were in Las Terrenas for a wedding, and the staff at check in made it a miserable experience. I will never stay at this property or recommend to anyone. To managerial staff at the hotel and at Viva Wyndham in general— train your staff in customer service. I’ve traveled to over 30 different countries and this was by far my worst experience.

Lovely resort, just needs some tweaks
Overall, loved the resort & the fact that it was adults only & smaller & quieter. Pool was fantastic & stays open till 8pm which was appreciated & there were plenty of lounge chairs. The beach is small but nice and clean & a close walk from the hotel. No pressure to partake in the activities but they were limited, repetitious & largely in the early part of the day. Great bars where the bartenders are not shy with the alcohol. The Italian restaurant was just so-so but the seafood restaurant was excellent. Buffet food, while plentiful, was largely mediocre except for the pizza and pastries, which were delicious. Could definitely use more vegetables and food could be more seasoned. Also would be nice to have more authentic Dominican cuisine. The buffet staff was very good with a special shout out to the servers, especially Yordelisa who was so sweet. The hotel room was good overall & the bed comfortable. But there was only one chair in the room & no table, more seating is needed. The bathroom was spacious but there was only hot water in the shower in the morning & it could have used more towels. The fridge was barely cold with no freezer section & there are no ice machines around the hotel. Espresso machine with little capsules was helpful. Patio was nice as was the plunge pool but the jets get turned off by 10pm and there were these centipede-like worms in it sometimes. Would stay there again, but hope they take to heart these suggestions for improvements.

The beach area/pool area/grounds were beautiful and exactly what we were looking for on our vacation. Our room was clean and in an amazing location with a beach view. However, the buffet food service was below par. Most days, the food was either ice cold or had not been replenished, thereby limiting our options. The omelet bar and Fusion restaurant were the only highlights of our dining experience.

Love the Viva V Samana
Beautiful bungalow room, better food than I expected from other reviews. Beautiful grounds and beach. Easy check in, check out. Low key adult resort, walkable compared to the huge Punta Cana resorts. Las Terrenas is beautiful and deserves a visit if you love the DR like us. No complaints. Will definetely visit again, but there are so many more places in the DR we have to visit. And the beach walks during twilight are magical.

A Wonderful Second Anniversary Stay! My wife and I recently celebrated our second anniversary at Viva V, and it was truly a memorable experience. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel incredibly welcome. The room was spacious, impeccably clean, and beautifully decorated with a perfect blend of comfort and elegance. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the view from our window added to the romantic atmosphere of our stay. We especially enjoyed the hotel's restaurants, including the we had a delicious anniversary dinner (Mar y fuego). The food was exceptional, and the service was top-notch, making the evening feel extra special. Overall, Viva V exceeded our expectations, and it made our second anniversary celebration unforgettable. We will definitely be returning for future stays and recommending it to friends and family!
