A business colleague of mine checked in prior to me and couldn’t stay at the hotel, due to smell of dogs and pet hair in the room. We had to find another hotel and have requested a refund.

No breakfast as advertized on hotels.com. manager daid this problem has been in place for a year. Yep, thats a long while for people to be mis-sold. Manager blamed head office and the agent. Said we needed to pay full.price and then claim back lack of a free breakfast. My advice. Dont book hete simply stay elsewhere. Plus the room had three air fresheners in it and they could not mask the bad drain smell. Shame, as the bed was comfortable and ripon has a lot of charactor

The worst place I have ever stayed in my life. Filthy, run down hole! The blood on the emergency light was a nice touch! Honestly, was like a bush tucker trial.

Solo trip with the dog!

Solo trip with the dog. Very friendly easy check in and cute accommodation in an old stable yard. When I was shown the room the main light didn't work but I said it didn't matter as the bedside and bathroom lights were fine. Very convenient with the dog to nip out for a quick pee rather than walking through a hotel. Car park small but parked ok and felt safe. I left early for and no one was around yo check out so ended up leaving door unlocked and key inside. Good value for money.

Was Ok for a night

Room was tiny, bathroom door would not close without a huge shove. The room smelt damp on each entry. The cups were stained and the shelf they were on was very stained The people were friendly enough, the bed was comfortable and the night quiet. There was no food at all on offer which is not clear in booking information. It was ok for a night but wouldn't want to stay longer and probably wouldn’t stay there again.

There was no kitchen - so no food . We were unaware of this until we arrived. Our first stay was comfortable, but our return stay a week later was not so good. Our mattress was obviously upside down so we were lying on springs just under the surface! We didn’t work this out until the morning - staff were very apologetic. No parking issues. No information about Wi-Fi. Friendly helpful staff, but the whole place is tired, and needs a thorough update.

Do not stay here

From the moment you walked in you couldn’t breathe. There are no windows at this property and no ventilation. You could smell the dampness and the mould first and then you could see the mould. There are at least 6 really strong air fresheners too, they don’t mask the mould smell, they just make it worse. The beds are uncomfortable too. But the mould and the ‘tight’ air feeling was probably the worst I’ve ever felt. The whole place was so dirty too, curly black hairs around the shower, dirty floor, just not a good place to stay. I wouldn’t have stayed there if it was for free so that’s saying something, harsh but I’m sorry no. We stayed in the room number 6 and it was the only one that I could see that had no windows so maybe the other rooms are better but that’s beside the point. OH AND let’s not forget the super high skylight was smashed through from the inside and looked like shards of glass were going to fall down any minute so that’s a nice bit of anxiety walking underneath it to get to the corridor everytime.

The high point of this property is definitely the staff, who are lovely and helpful. It's also a very short walk to the centre of town, which is great. Unfortunately the room itself was simply okay - cracked skylight, bathroom sink light not working, no window for ventilation. I'd likely loocfor something else next time im in town.

It is perfectly located for the centre of Ripon and the lady checking us in was lovely. The room itself felt and smelt damp, the beds were not very comfortable and we couldn’t cover the window to make it dark which was an issue when getting our 1 year old to sleep. All that being said we would definitely stay there again because it made visiting Ripon on a tight budget possible and if we hadn’t had our daughter with us none of the above would have been an issue.

Service was great, the person who checked us in was lovely but this accommodation needs a refurb. It also needs a good clean! The toilet facilities was horrendous - SO noisy we were woken up 2 in the night, and the bathroom stunk of sewage. I would not stay here again.

Absolutely terrible. I booked this venue on the basis of excellent reviews and I'm either assuming we were given the worst room there or the reviews are fake. Room was filthy, cobwebs over ceiling, filthy bed base, mould spores in shower, dust everywhere and I have taken photos for evidence. The room was absolutely tiny, to the point the phrase big enough to swing a cat is a mockery. I didnt get more than an hours sleep, between the two girls next door giggling and singing until 2am and the extremely poor mattress I got next to no sleep. The walls separating us to other rooms were paper thin, I do appreciate these used to be stables and have been hand made but very poor. The shower door handle came off as I opened it, the smell from the toilet was god awful...I'm guessing I'm not the first to mention as there was an air freshener placed directly next to it on the floor. The TV controller wouldn't work so we had no choice of watching tv, except ITV1. No wi-fi at the property which is a basic these days. I am extremely disappointed and will be seeking a full refund. The bar was completely locked up by the time we returned from dinner at 20:30 however I was advised this may be the case if its quiet. Alarm bells began ringing when locals we spoke to seemed to show sympathy when we said we was staying at the White Horse. The only saving grace was the women at the bar dealing with punters and hotel guests, she was so helpful, friendly and overall just a pleasure to speak to.

Friendly Staff

The staff were friendly on arrival and swift checking in. Due to closure of the kitchen, no food was available so had to seek further options... was not aware of this upon booking. The room was clean and comfortable with all facilities as stated, although the remote was missing for the TV so had to figure out how to switch it on and change channel. Parking is limited so had to park on the street.
