Fabulous property in stunning location
This is one of the best properties I have ever rented. The house is situated on top of a hill with incredible views, and the rooms, the kitchen, the living areas both internal and external and the pool area are really fantastic. We were a family group of three generations, and all of us loved it. My 3 year old granddaughter loved the pool so much she actually learned to swim while we were there.
The house is very Spanish. You have to learn to live in it like a Spanish family, and learn which windows to open to allow mountain breezes to cool the house (there is no air-con, but get the windows right and you really don't need it), and it is perfect to relax. My family thought the absence of WiFi was a huge advantage. It stopped me checking emails all the time, so even I managed to calm down!
The village (Riogordo) has everything you need, There are several small supermarkets, a petrol station nearby, and the local food shops are both cheap and very good quality.
I must mention the drive. You are up in the mountains, and as they tell you, it is a 2k drive along a very steep and very winding dirt track. Our hire cars struggled in places, being a little underpowered. Make sure you have a decent car. You don't need a four wheel drive, but get something with a bit of power. You get used to the drive. It looks intimidating when you first see it, but you get used to it, I promise you.
A fabulous property. I would definitely go again.
