Great historical location. Lots of fun little details everywhere. My kids loved walking around finding little hidden treasures such as the library, Thomas the train set, and lounge area.

The building and surrounding area is amazing. It is a must stay place for those who have travelled the number 1 through the mountains. The fitted sheets didn't quite fit the mattress and they could use a mattress cover to increase the look of the bed. The carpet needs replacing...it is well maintained, but in need of updates. The building is amazing and the museum that has been built by the family is a must see. The cool mountain air is refreshing. It is too bad that more of the hotel isn't open for exploration as there is an outstanding amount of historical memorabilia (but it is understandable as some guests would not be respectful and may deface items). We will stay here again, on our 23 day trip this was my families most memorable location.

Stayed a few days earlier. Liked it so much we rebooked for the way home. Our room wasn’t the best view this time and couldn’t sit outside or leave the patio door open as the neighbor smoked like a chimney on his patio. But Rusty the cat came to visit our room and that made the night. He’s a very good spokesman for the chateau. Nicest cat in the world.

Enjoyed our stay. The only thing was food, it was not very good. Frozen veg, boxed potatoes, dry pot roast…. Expensive for what you get

Older motel but unique, historical. Rooms dated but clean. Enjoyed the private beach and proximity of restaurant. Food was average, but reasonably priced.

Beautiful location.

It is a beautiful location. The ghost town next to it was nice to walk through. The dining room had a decent menu. There isn’t air conditioning or Wi-Fi in the rooms but we didn’t miss either. We were fine.
