Amazing Vacation!

Overall we had an incredible experience at the Royalton Punta Cana. From the second you arrive you are treated like royalty. The welcome cocktail (lemonade) was amazing after hours of travel. We arrived a little prior to 3PM and were invited to use the facilities and have lunch prior to being officially checked in. We also received a couple vouchers for money off services and upgrades during our stay. We took advantage of the massage coupon later in the week. It was amazing! The massage therapists were great and friendly. The massage itself was wonder. The only thing I would recommend is booking one earlier in the day to take advantage of the spa. We were unable to do so bc we had booked the last possible time slot (wanted to enjoy the beach and pools) and the spa was closing when our couples massage was complete. We stayed in building 3 and although didn't have a pool or beach view from our room, the location was great. We were in the middle of the resort and the room facing a walkway gave privacy and peace and quiet. The room was a great size and very clean. The staff kept the room stocked and were always more than happy to get us extra things we needed. The only hiccup in our stay was the building concierge. After a couple days into our trip we dreaded running into him. Which was impossible not to. Our vacation was to celebrate my boyfriends 30th birthday and our 2 year anniversary. We had planned where we were going to eat to celebrate those two occasions the month

Recommend the hotel but...

Pros: Their buffet and the amenities
Cons: Less harrasment from staff to oblige sitting down with salespeople
Location: Macao trip was excellent....
I would highly recommend the hotel, we were very comfortable but we were also harrased by the concierge and other staff to meet with sales people at breakfast, and frankly there are other ways of doing this as it does disrupt our vacation even if only to sit with us at the breakfast table. We were playing cat and mouse with the concierge and other people in the hotel, until I have indicated we are not interested and the concierge replied but I am going to lose points...other than that, the food was good. Although you had to make reservations for restaurants. The restaurant called under the sea which supposed to be a seafood restaurant is really bad as they served us old shrimp and lobster which made my wife sick the next day. Other than this, it was pleasurable.

Very pleasing stay

Pros: Friendly staff. Beautiful views. Very chic. FABULOUS BUFFET.
Cons: Proper staff training for ZEN restaurant. Cleaners in Bldg. 2 must put correct number of towels and other supplies.
Location: Location is excellent.
The hotel facilities are great and the staff are always willing to help and are courteous. We had our son's wedding at the hotel and the coordinators were excellent, together with the bartenders, waiters and cooks. The buffet and dessert tables were exquisite! It's one of the best places to hold a wedding. A couple of setbacks were that I had to request for clean towels, face cloths, and hand towels twice. Plus the ZEN restaurant gives poor service and we shared the same comments with other groups that went to eat there in different nights. I thought it was only because there were 10 of us went and they could be short staffed. But when I heard the other group complaining the next day, then I was right to say that the Zen staff are not well-trained to serve properly. We left without getting dessert because it will take another 20 min. to order the dessert only. Food and drinks were interchanged and sometimes not served.

GREAT SWIM UP POOL / BEDROOM !

Pros: Swim up pool straight to your bedroom.
Cons: Quality of food was mediocre. Lack of night activities / shows -- there should be one EVERY night, for adults as well.
The Diamond Club experience was just amazing. It is the way to go at the Royalton.

Nice hotel close to the beavh

The food and staff at the buffet restaurant very good but the Japanese restaurant staff and services are very poor. The waiter at the Mexican restaurant is Very bad services. We paid for Diamond club but they treating us not any extra special. Paid extra for nothing.

Second Time at Royalton Resort

Pros: The staff and visitors are the nicest group and genuinely happy. They seemed to go out of their way to make all guest happy and comfortable.
Cons: To be honest I am stumped as to what could be improved. Maybe some advice is to be careful when walking about the pool for it's very slippery tile.
Location: There are many excursions off site but I mostly stayed on the resort so I don't have any experience off the resort.
This was my second time at the Royalton and just like my first visit, it was absolutely amazing. I do not have a single thing bad to say. The food is amazing, the people are wonderful, and the environment was absolutely beautiful. There was an event at all hours of the day and many options outside the resort were offered. I can't stress enough how much i've enjoyed this resort.

Not a good beginning to a trip

For beginners the room we booked was not available... We booked diamond club ocean view adults only, and dealt with screaming children all morning. Our new room was supposed to be ready by noon but now not till 3pm. Last night the closet light (right beside the bed) was stuck on. Apparently the sensor is broke. The closet doors aren't solid and the the light blinded us all night. Also at dinner at the Italian restaurant we were told that wine was by the bottle only. After ordering a $70 bottle of wine, we witness other couples having wine by the glass. So far the Diamond club isn't helping us with our new room and doesn't care about our satisfaction. "Excellence Resort" in Punta Cana is a true 5 star resort... This " The Royalton" is far from it.

Beautiful scenery, hotel well taken care of

Pros: Loved the beauty, cleanliness.
Cons: The food wasn't too good. It was o.k. The only restaurant we enjoyed was Zen, the hibachi restaurant. We all had a few bowel issues, but not too bad.
Location: The beach was very clean. One day was high tide, so a lot of seaweed came on to the beach, within 24 hours they had workers out there cleaning it up.
We loved the look as soon as we entered the resort. It was very well taken care of. The diamond club staff was very easy and pleasant to work with. Our butler, Leidy, was AMAZING!!! She helped us with everything from simple questions to taking care of all dinner reservations, and everything in between! It was my daughters birthday one of the days we were there and she went over and above to help us celebrate, by decorating her hotel room, to the celebration with cake at dinner. She truly makes you feel important, like we were the only ones she was assigned to help out during our whole stay! The resort staff was nice, there were times where we felt ignored, especially at the regular pool bar, called DIPS and the other side was a swim up bar, they were not very attentive. They expected tips for them to give you more attentive service. Even though, the resort was all inclusive, it seemed the workers expected tips for everything. They kept the outside vendors at a minimum, which was nice. I don't like when we are on vacation and constantly bothered to buy things, with that being said, the resort it self has quite a few employees who work off commission to sell the spa packages, and excursions. We were hit up almost every day by these employees, my family got very annoyed with them always coming around, even though they weren't to over bearing, they would sometimes go into the 'pity' mode, and tell us if they don't sell, they don't make any money, because they work on commission.

Beautiful Resort, Friendly Staff and Good Food

Pros: It's great to have a beach where you can spend hours in the water.
Cons: The Wifi and television reception could be a little better. My wife would have loved a better Pino Grigio wine.
Location: The location of the resort is perfect and you have the ability to do almost anything you please as far as activities.
The Royalton Resort has everything you need for any type of vacation you're looking for (peaceful or full of activities). The food was excellent and the resort was very clean. We loved our butler, Pablo, and highly recommend the Diamond Club. The Wifi was sometimes iffy and the television reception could be better. Other than that, this is a great resort with a beautiful beach with an opportunity to meet people from all over the world.

Middle of the road

Neither overwhelming or underwhelming. Be cautious of food and waters, you may get sick and have a ruined vacation. A bit over priced for what you get.
