Not a 5 Star, but a very nice place to stay

Pros: number of restaurants and pools available
Cons: better maintenance on rooms and facilities
Location: Very large campus, with no reason to leave that I could find. Other than maybe an excursion, everything you need it right there.
We booked 3 rooms at this resort for 6 adults and 3 children. Upon are arrival, everything seemed really nice. The campus, including three hotels, is quite large, but they provide shuttles and a train that run regularly. Initially we had a few issues with clogged sinks/toilet, TV not working, safe not working, patio door won’t lock, etc., but most were quickly resolved by maintenance. One safe locked us out of our belonging every other day and required security to open. Not a huge problem, but somewhat frustrating. One of the large pools nearest our rooms was closed and a building next to ours was being torn down or remodeled, but there were three other really nice pools not far away. The food was good and we had many different options when dinning, however, even though we used precautions with the water etc., 3 of us developed stomach cramps and diarrhea after a few days. Something that is fairly common in the DR, I am told, and usually associated with the food. The staff was fairly friendly, but not as friendly as some of the other resorts we have stayed at in other countries (maybe culture?). The prominent language is Spanish and most of the staff have a limited English vocabulary, making communication somewhat difficult for us. However, we enjoyed trying to communicate in Spanish and with the help of Google, got along pretty well. A great learning experience for the kids, as well as us adults. Lots of other activities available and the grounds are fairly well maintained.

We came from Miami to spend our vacations here. Bad choice! This is not our first time in Punta Cana but I have to admit it has been the worst one. We had some issues with the rooms we booked. Never got what we chose online. Instead they gave us a family suite. We liked it and since we were trying to relax we did not complain about it. Staff here does not help at all. You talk to a person and then they tell you to talk to someone else and at the end you are not able to solve the problem or getting your questions answered. They don’t inform you on what you can do at he hotel instead they have all those ‘sharks’ trying to sell you their overpriced excursions. It’s really annoying how to get stopped over and over by these people trying to sell you stuff. I tried not to be rude but this is way too much. Food is ok to bad. Don’t go to restaurants a la carta. We went to the Mexican restaurant and it was horrible. On top all this problems there was a blackout the second day we were here. It lasted over 2 h so get ready. The bathroom in our rooms stinks. We had to keep the extractor on all the time tk be able to stay in. My nephew was having a birthday and I informed and asked them what can they do for him. They told me they would send a fruit basket tk the room and give a bottle of liquor. Hello, he is only 16 years old. Well the fruit basket was delivered by 2 pm after j asked them several times to do so. Go to a different resort. This is not a good place at all

Excellent hotel, though the facility is so large the first day we got lost. Enough chairs at pool and beach and didn’t have to wake up at the crack of dawn to get one. Restaurants and staff excellent.

Never use this place for vacation

1- Layouts of resort is bad. 2- Room was bad. No privacy when you come out of toilet and shower. Beds were right near the toilet & shower. 3- Stayed at this place for five days. Two days no water in the room for shower and flushing toilets. When you call reception, they say some one will be there in five minutes but nobody shows up for hours. 4- when we checked in the room, minibar fridge, television, safe deposit box not working. Resort send one person to fix safe deposit box then another person to fix TV and another one to fix fridge. Lost one day for getting room ready.

Great Family Vacation

Pros: We loved the sports complex and the variety of restaurants. Staff did a great job of providing activities for the guests. Loved our waiter Jancy.
Cons: Did not enjoy the vendors on property and the Travel Club reps. Too pushy.
Location: Only left the property to do excursions. Booked through Expedia and was easy process. Didn't feel the need to leave, enough to do on property.
This was our first family vacation out of the country and to an all-inclusive. Having read many different reviews, we went in with an open mind. We loved everything. We arrived early, before check-in, and one of our two rooms were available. We had no trouble checking in and went to the available room, changed and went to lunch and to the pool and beach. By the time we returned, the other room was available. The room was not located in the same building as the other and not what we had booked. The hotel managed to change the room the next day and moved the rooms next to each other. The rooms were large and clean. The maids did a great job cleaning every day and the mini bar was restocked every day. We ate at the buffets for breakfast and lunch. Service was good most of the time and good variety of food on the buffets. We ate at 5 of the restaurants without any wait or reservations. Getting around the property was no problem. Plenty of shuttles that were willing to take you wherever you wanted. The grounds were beautiful, pools were great and the beach was lovely. We had no problem getting chairs at either the pool or the beach. The sports complex is great. We have three boys and they spent plenty of time there. Wish we had used the hotel app earlier as it was a good tool to find out what was going on every day.

Awesome Resort

As soon as we got there they upgraded us for free immediately with an ocean view suite. The staff went above and beyond. Our room phone messed up so I had to go to the concierge to order room service but the next day I had a fruit tray and a bottle of rum delivered to my room at no charge. Beautiful place. I would recommend monkey land and zip line combo for an excursion. Would definitely go back.

Live music on lobby at night. Perfect

Pros: The Dominican people are some of the nicest people, always very helpful.
Cons: None at this moment.
Location: I really stay at my hotel, but I did a photo shoot at the beach and it was an incredible experience.
I have travel now to a few hotels in the Bavaro area. This hotel is super big for my preference, but I enjoy the fact that my suite was very close to the beach. It was nice to walk to the beach every morning.

Ready to gamble?

My wife and I stayed here for four days as part of a wedding party. We travel internationally often, and this is our second all-inclusive stay in the Dominican Republic. This was the wedding of a close family member and we wanted to look back on it as a great experience. Unfortunately it was not great. It wasn't even okay. It was downright awful. Our room had no internet, was a smoking room (despite requesting a non-smoking room), and had COCKROACHES. They reluctantly changed our room but never apologized or upgraded us. This leads me to my second topic—hospitality. We found the people at the front desk to be dismissive and rude. It was almost as if they were told to try to NOT do anything for their guests. Also, the hostesses at the restaurants, particularly the Italian and Steakhouse restaurants, were extremely rude, essentially ignoring people who were requesting information about their wait time (which for us was over 2 hours). Last are the facilities. This was probably the worst part. If you like gambling then I highly recommend any buffet in this resort because you never know which dish will give you food poisoning. At least one third of our wedding group had stomach problems. Also, for some reason, certain parts of the resort smell like sewage. I have no idea why this is, but it was noticeable by everyone. The only real positive was that the wedding ceremony was very nice. Other than that we were very disappointed in this place. We couldn’t wait to leave.

Dear Guest: Thank you for your review. We apologize for your negative impression of our rooms, staff hospitality, and our food and beverage outlets. Your feedback is very helpful to us in evaluating our service and we will certainly be looking into the observations which you have made with a view to taking corrective action. We appreciated your kind comments as it concerned the wedding ceremony. It would be pertinent for us to point to : We encourage guests with issues or complaints to make them known to our Public Relations Manager or Front Office Manager, in order for us to immediately address the situation, especially if it concerns the cleaning of your room. We are sorry for that experience with your room. We would be grateful to host you again, to show you our usual warm hospitality and service standard, as the experience you had is not typical of our guests.

Poor service.

Poor service. Food not very good. Problems in a lot of rooms. This is my 4 time to punta Cana and this is my third resort. It was the worst. Very confussing to get to other rooms. We were there for a wedding with about 45 people.
