Rural accommodation with sumptuous garden and magnificent panoramic view
Cortijo Opazo - Opazo Vista apartment offers all you could wish for as a holiday destination in terms of peace, tranquillity and high standard of accommodation. The property is situated in the countryside of the high Alpujarras, close to the villages of Pitres, Portugos and Atalbeitar. Set in three acres of land with an exceptional garden it provides the perfect stress free location for relaxing and unwinding. To the front of Cortijo Opazo the land drops away towards the valley of the Rio Trevelez, then rises steeply to the summits of La Corona and El Lujar; whilst behind us the terrain ascends beyond the local villages to the mountain peaks of the Sierra Nevada. The surrounding ancient terraces are populated by goats or planted with olives, almonds and vegetables. Cortijo Opazo has an delightful garden, full of exotic plants, trees and shrubs seldom found in this area, providing you a freedom of space to enjoy as you please. Walking guides, maps and touring information are supplied to ensure you get the most out of your stay.
We have two holiday apartments to rent here, Opazo Vista and Opazo Jardin (see separate listing for Opazo Jardin). Both are situated on the ground floor of the house, they have separate entrances and their own outdoor spaces and are completely independent of each other . Both have access to the larger well developed garden.
From the south facing verandah of Cortijo Opazo the entrance to Opazo Jardin leads in to an open plan living accommodation. This is a spacious area with a three seater leather sofa, two arm chairs, a large dinning table, four dining chairs, a well stocked bookcase and a log burning stove. There is a small television that receives Spanish channels only but has a CD/DVD player. Games and DVDs also available.
The kitchen is fully equipped for self catering, with a good range of crockery and utensils, a full sized oven, a four ring glass ceramic hob, microwave, toaster and kettle. The kitchen is clean a modern, tiled with traditional design ceramics.
From the kitchen there is a small passage leading to the bathroom and bedroom. The bathroom is equipped with a sink, WC, walk in 'wet room' style walk in shower with an Oxygene power shower head. Shelves, hooks, towel rails, mirror and a wall cupboard are fitted.
The bedroom has a large double bed (200cm x 150 cm), two bedside tables with reading lights, a wardrobe and additional hanging space. This is a light and airy room with views south across the valley and east towards the rising sun.
Throughout the accommodation the floors have been finished in warm terracota ceramic tiles. There is an underfloor heating system in all areas, the use of which is included in the rental. During much of the year the days are warm enough for t-shirts and light clothing but since the area is mountainous the evenings and early mornings in the cooler months can be chilly and we have found the heating system invaluable. The log burning stove is provided as an additional cosy luxury, logs can be obtained locally.
Opazo Vista is situated to the front of Cortijo Opazo and has a glorious south facing covered verandah (known locally as a tinao) with expansive views out over the valley of the Rio Trevelez and across the summit of La Corona to the mountains of the Contraviesa. To one side of the verandah there is an open patio for your exclusive use which enjoys sun all day long. Outdoor tables, chairs and sun-loungers allow guests to take full advantage of this splendid location. The private patio area leads on to the delightful communal garden where there is plenty of space for you to find your own secluded corner.
We can supply a cot and a high chairs if reserved in advance. A portable bed suitable for a child can also be placed in the living room. All towels and bedding provided, changed weekly.
Wifi available in the apartment, free of charge.
Although well equipped for self catering we can provide you with home cooked meals if required (24 hours notice needed). Produce from the vegetable garden and our own chickens is usually available.
Opazo Vista is ideal for a couple.
