This typical miners’ terraced cottage sits in an area where mining was once the heartbeat of the community and the main source of income. The surrounding mountains, once blackened with coal dust, have been completely transformed over time and are now covered in lush greenery and woodland.

Today, the area is known for its calm, open spaces and miles of trails that are open to the public. Whether you enjoy walking, cycling, or simply soaking up the quiet, the mountains and forestry offer a real sense of peace and escape from everyday life.

The nearby town of Maesteg is just a short distance away and has everything you need during your stay, including supermarkets, local shops, bars, and restaurants. You’re close enough for convenience, but far enough to enjoy the slower pace of the valley.

For food and drinks closer to home, the Refreshment Room restaurant and bar is within easy walking distance — ideal for a relaxed meal or a casual drink without needing the car.

Cyclists are especially well catered for, with direct access to the cycle track through the bike shed, making it easy to head straight out and explore the trails from the doorstep.
