Had a wonderful stay in North Port. My first time to SW Florida. Came south looking for good weather and peace/quiet - got both. If you are looking for party scene, North Port may not be your best bet - the town is pretty quiet and the immediate neighborhood around the house is very peaceful. It's on a long cul-de-sac, so there's no traffic/noise at all. You can lay out on the lanai or in the private pool (overlooking the canal) and it's just you and the tropical birds in the back yard. Neighbors all seemed nice.At the same time, it's just an easy 30 minute drive to the beautiful beach at Venice; a little further to Sarasota or south to Bonita Springs/Naples. People complain about the traffic in SW FL, but it's nothing compared to where I live outside DC. The location was perfect for us - real quiet at the house, but easy to explore the beaches up/down the coast. And plenty of places for casual eating in North Port. The house itself was great. Not luxury living, but very comfortable and a bargain at the price. Really well stocked - not like some rentals that come empty - I was there a month and never once was there a time when what I needed was not already in the house. Kitchen had everything you need to cook/clean. Everything in the house worked fine. And having our own pool was a treat. Swimming outside in January - who would have thunk?Hosts very pleasant. Would 100% stay there again. Had a really great time.
