The staff at Petoskey, Michigan, Days Inn were remarkably cheerful and helpful. Though the entire region was experiencing a power outage during the late March ice storm, the staff continued to operate with patience and helpfulness and good humor. They offered unlimited comforters, small battery operated lights. They charged our cell phones with a large power pack. The manager's husband agreed to pick up a grocery item for me without expecting a tip. Later, he agreed to take my sister and myself to shop at the local grocery store, again, not expecting compensation. All staff were pleasant throughout our stay.

It's been my go-to property anytime I stay in the Petoskey area. Aside from the clean and safe environment, the front desk staff and housekeeping staff are great. Sarah is the best at check in/out. I checked in very late Friday and a new employee was working. She was very cordial and professional and helpful... a good person to interact with after hours and hours of travel.

Good stay could have been great.

We wanted a room with a hot tub because we were skiing and thought it would help. Filled it up and i think one of the jets had power. This was Room 120. Also in same room the back door does not have a lock on it so it was a security issue, anyone could have came in during the day or night.

The staff was excellent, and the breakfast was nice, with many options. The location was great and very convenient. With a few improvements this hotel could be fantastic. The beds and pillows are clean but extremely uncomfortable. The indoor pool area is large and could be wonderful, but all the furnishings had visible mold and although the pool water appeared clean, the bottom definitely needed some cleaning. All in all it's a mixed bag - however, if you are just looking for a great price, a good location, and a filling breakfast, bring your own pillow and go for it.

Our stay was great for the price point. Front desk friendly and helpful. I think the rooms have been updated which is a plus. Unfortunately, the hot tub did not work, though we were able to go next door to another hotel to use theirs. The exterior doors do automatically close after coming in/going out - a definite security concern.

The ugly sister hotel swap

We initially booked to stay at the Days Inn through Hotels.com. When we got there the attendant said our room was "out of commission" and they would put us up in their sister hotel, Super 8. We drove outside of town further to the Super 8. This hotel had not been updated since the 80's. You may find a crappier hotel in Petoskey but you will have to look very hard. The rooms smelled of smoke, the pool was dirty, they did offer a breakfast so you could take a bagel back to your room. The beds were fine and it was a warm, dry place to stay the night, but that was about all it offered. No concessions offered.

This was a ski trip. The hot tub was greatly missed due to a needed repair. But they did make arrangements to use another property's facility complete with complimentary transportation. The best they could do under the circumstances. Staff was lovely and helpful.

Excellent location in the tourist town. We were there late fall I’m sure it’s swamped in the summer. Building is a bit rundown door locks do not work. And there is a bit of mold. We only stayed one night.

Stay somewhere else. Hotel is dirty, bathrooms are awful, broken towel racks, dirty shower, carpet in the hall and room was filthy. Pool is cold and filthy, hot tub is colder than the pool. Linens were not clean. We had to leave and find other accommodations.
