The staff (especially Mario and Peter) was pleasant and helpful, but we were very disappointed in the room. The first room had a drainage problem with the sink so the moved us into a second that had mold and mildew in the ceiling with an extremely fowl odor throughout the room. We asked to change again and the third room had the same odor. We ended up staying and used plenty of Lysol, fabreeze, and even had to purchase candles to mask the smell. The cleaners didn’t clean our room the first night, half cleaned it the second night, and left us without towels the third night. I wondered how so many people gave it such high ratings from previous travels.

Loved It and We'd Recommend!

Pros: Cleanliness, friendly staff, great food.
Cons: There's construction outside, but that is beyond the hotel's control.
Location: City center of Panama City, many restaurants, churches and other sites very nearby.
We loved our experience at the Double Tree in Panama City. We upgraded for an affordable rate, which included a deluxe room, buffet breakfast for two each day of our stay, and wi-fi/internet access each day. The hotel was clean, safe and had a wonderful staff. There were many restaurants and sites within walking distance. They also have a tour company in the lobby that can help you arrange anything that you want to do. We recommend this hotel.

Location is good-near Metro and many restaurants.

Pros: The location. Sights are a bit remote; requires planning & money! You either hire a driver or take taxis.
Cons: Staff training - maybe a little English!
Location: Metro is new, beautiful-easy access to Old City,Albrook terminal.Bus to Panama Canal.Panama Railroad ride is worth it. Hiring a driver $$$$, taxis $$$
Communications are lost in this hotel. The staff does not make much of an effort to understand English or to help. The simplest question, where can we find a food store, is met with complicated answers -- futile. Ask for towels -- futile; went down to café to order a salad & glass of wine; they insisted on delivering to room. After 45 minutes, went back down -- they had the room number completely wrong! The front desk/restaurant could not break down a $50.00 bill - yet they use U.S. dollars! For a Hilton affiliate, we thought a more informed, friendly, English-understanding person would be at the hotel.
