The location was beautiful and the INN well maintained and they accepted our 2 Portuguese Water Dogs. Being on a lake it is really off season for this location so when we arrived the dinning room was not open on Monday, but Steve the INN keeper was also the chef trained at the CIA!
Steve told us the nearest restaurant was at least 30 minutes away and may to be open on Monday, so Steve offered to put together a meal for us with what he had in stock, as his food order didn’t come in until Thursday. Steve had a few items prepared, my wife had lentil spinach bacon soup and pasta bologna is w sausage, for me had a potato leek lobster soup and a green salad w braised scallops. Everything was delicious, presentation excellent and Steve Conversation enlightening and gave us a piece of Vermont Maple pie for desert, yum!!
Exceeded expectatuons in almost every way. Room was lovely, view was fantastic, service was amazing. Attached restaurant was the perfect meal. Only reason not giving a perfect rating is that the bathroom floor was dirty/gritty, and shower water pressure was poor.
Everything was wonderful & charming.
The view of the Lake took our breath away.
The food was amazing.
The staff made us feel like we were the only
guests in the Inn.
There was a coating of snow during our visit which made the mountain view Majestic
While the lakefront cabins are fantastic my experience upon arrival was a bit strange. The manager (possibly the owner?) said there was no balance due as I had fully prepaid it in advance through Hotels.com.
She requested that I sign a paper which stated the Willoughvale Inn's
rules and policies. After a long day driving I had left my reading glasses in the car and simply signed it, even though I couldn't read it.
When I asked for a copy of the document, she refused saying that since I had made the booking through Expedia ( actually it was through Hotels.com) she did not have a responsibility to provide me with a copy. Really?
Not a very welcoming reception by a not very pleasant person.
PROS: Attractive, well maintained property in a relatively remote area with a great restaurant.
CON: the noise was a problem. Right on the road so passing cars made quite a bit of noise. Also, we were in Westmore Room, which is right over the bar so we could hear tables and chairs moving downstairs below us as well as a tv.
The Inn is very well kept. Our room was immaculate. The Innkeepers and staff are very friendly and helpful. They treat you like family. There are canoes and kayaks for your use and a place with lawn chairs for building a fire. There were plenty of continental breakfast options including fresh baked muffins daily.
This was our second summer stay at Willoughvale Inn and we couldn't have been more pleased. We stayed in the Gazebo Room and the view was magical. The private gazebo porch was like the cherry on top of this lovely experience. Our bed was beyond comfy and the service was sweet and accommodating. We also enjoyed the kayaks and swimming in the lake. Our only regret was not going a bond fire at night. We'll be back next year to do that.
Beautiful Inn with friendly staff. Added convenience of restaurant on site with excellent food and service.
Use of kayaks a plus and lakeshore accessible.
