Beautiful Spa and lodging

Beautiful place and lots to do. Especially for newlyweds etc. But I was on business + it was a little loud for me with the movie next door. But it would be great for a romantic visit. Calistoga is a beautiful town to visit, if you are considering. You won't be disappointed!

I loved the accessibility of the town in Calistoga, and how the hotel offered bikes to accommodate our outing. The hot spring water in the hot tub made it an even more enjoyable experience, and we loved the heated pool! Swimming at night and 24/7 access made it super easygoing as we have a fluctuating late night schedule. The cantina for drinks, a movie theater, all added to the wonderful stay that we had and made my birthday one I’ll never forget.

NOT luxury or relaxing-be warned

NOT a luxury hotel. Not relaxing. Not worth the $. Checked us into a room which was on the first floor, teeny tiny room with two large windows facing a courtyard with an outdoor big screen movie theatre/bar lounge. It would have been like trying to sleep in a crowded bar/theatre. Anyone could look into the room day/night. Shouldn’t even rent that room EVER-it’s appropriate for a closet. Moved us to another which was lovely until I took off my shoes and my feet literally stuck to the carpeting. Was told they knew the previous guest spilled something and had hoped the maids had cleaned it. They had not. Moved AGAIN. No apology, no how about a cocktail on us…no help even moving our luggage. Sunday morning at 8:45a woken up by an employee using an electric leaf blower in a small courtyard below our room. Wow! Who uses a leaf blower to sweep a tiny sidewalk at a “relaxing/luxury” spa?!!!! Morning coffee & continental breakfast consisted of the wrong hot beverage and three slices of stale/soggy/breaking apart fruit breads. Lots of things broken through the property. Window in our room unable to open with a note of apology. Carpeting on main stairs from lobby to room stained, big tear and fraying. Heat & ac unworking in the second room.Painting peeling in bathroom. Pool area with rusted out metal plant boxes. Manager wasn’t on site all weekend.

The property is quite dated and in need of some TLC. The cottages are in desperate need of repair and upgrading. When one of your “best” rooms has broken blinds, stained carpeting an a kitchenette that looks like it is being held together by paint…you begin to wonder what the worst will look like. Also, for us security of the place and specifically our room was lacking. Back gate to property is left open. This was directly next to our room. On 2 occasions we came back to find the gate to our cottage door had been left open. Entry to these rooms is by an actual key, not a key card. With a bar and theatre set up right outside the cottage, it would’ve been nice to be alerted to or asked if the noise would be an issue. Instead we were left ear plugs on the night table? Lastly, cleaning services are on request only and although requested, we found many things it the room that were never tidied or cleaned. Quite disappointing. The pool and hot tub area while relaxing are also in need of some improvements.
