Overall a 4/5 for the price. The hotel is cute (6 rooms) and centrally located (nice neighbourhood), with all rooms inward facing and quieter than expected (though our room was beside a loud water heater). Wifi, air conditioning and breakfast were exceptional! Rooms and bathrooms are a little small in size. The site was secure (including night door staff) and included locked luggage storage for arrival/departure days, but without service staff later in the day (but quick to respond online) which can be frustrating if looking for recommendations or room service. It seemed a little overpriced for what we received, but it was during the lead up to Dia de los Muertos.

Holt está buenísimo… encantada con la habitación y hotel en general super limpio, acogedor, hermoso su patio interior, el área de desayuno hermoso y desayuno completo delicioso. Gisela fue muy amable. Nos coordinó una taxi para que nos buscara de madrugada. El área tan cerca de plazas, restaurantes y área de comparas. Tuvimos la oportunidad de ir al festival y todo quedaba caminado cerca. Definitivamente, volvería a quedarme. Quedé enamorada del hotel y de Oaxaca.

Lo positivo: El hotel es muy limpio y tiene una decoración bonita y moderna. Nos tocó una habitación renovada con un baño amplio y cómodo. El internet funcionaba muy bien durante toda nuestra estancia. Destacamos especialmente la atención de Elizabeth, quien fue muy amable, servicial y atenta. Ella fue lo mejor de nuestra experiencia. Lo negativo: Desafortunadamente, desde antes de llegar tuvimos un muy mal rato. Nos informaron que el pago no había pasado, aunque al revisar con nuestro banco todo estaba en orden. Intentamos pagar mediante su enlace en línea, pero su plataforma simplemente no funcionaba correctamente; permitía guardar los datos de la tarjeta pero no enviarlos (no había opción de “submit”). Al llegar, no hay recepción física y todo se hace por teléfono o internet, lo cual no fue nada eficiente. Además, el mensaje que recibimos fue bastante hostil, amenazando con cancelar la reservación si no pagábamos de inmediato. A pesar de estar dispuestos a pagar en persona, no aceptaban efectivo ni tenían terminal, lo cual es absurdo para un lugar que se presenta como hotel y no como Airbnb. Ya estando en el hotel, mientras hablábamos por teléfono con Fernanda, intentamos ingresar nuestra información de pago fácil unas 3 o 4 veces desde el celular, y aun así seguía sin funcionar. No ofrecieron alternativas ni mostraron flexibilidad, solo repetían las mismas instrucciones sin reconocer que el problema era de su plataforma. Cansado y frustrado, mi esposo decidió cancelar

We had a truly unforgettable stay at Holt in Oaxaca. From the moment we arrived, the wonderful staff made us feel right at home. A special thank you to Isela and Gerardo, who went above and beyond to warmly welcome my mom when she arrived early. Despite check-in being later in the afternoon, they made her feel comfortable and even offered her breakfast, a thoughtful gesture we deeply appreciated. The property itself is beautiful, well-maintained, and full of character. Our room was spacious and peaceful, and we looked forward each morning to the delicious, healthy breakfast served with care and local flair. The location was perfect, a short and pleasant walk to the main square, with plenty of great places to eat nearby. Oaxaca felt safe, clean, and incredibly friendly, which made our experience even more enjoyable. To Isela, Gerardo, Carmen, Elizabeth, Bianca, Priscilla, and every member of the amazing team at Holt: thank you for your warmth, hospitality, and for making our stay so special. We also like to thank the customer service team on Holt Whatsapp who were always there communicating with me right away everytime i had questions - Fernanda, Paolo, Eduardo, Bianca, and Janeth. Wonderful hotel with a beautiful courtyard. Very friendly service and accommodating. Breakfast was delicious with lots of fresh fruit, granola and warm dishes. Great coffee!

The staff and property were great during our stay. The property was a great location to all the main local areas and within 10 minutes of walking to all places. The breakfast provided was delicious and plentiful. We felt incredibly safe and cozy at Holt. I would highly recommend and stay in future visits.

Comfortable and stylish hotel in a great location

We had a wonderful stay at Hotel de mi indepencia. The room was very comfortable and stylish, breakfast was great, and we loved the location and communal patio. Our room had no windows, but good air conditioning - this meant it was also nice and quiet. The hot tub was also a lovely extra. The hotel is contact free, and we didn’t have very good communication from them after we asked via WhatsApp and email about a few things. But once we had spoken to the on-site staff, we had the answers we wanted (mostly!).

First time in Oaxaca and HOLT was conveniently close to everything. Really cute outside and inside. They have self-check-in and check-out services, so you don't have to deal with people. I like that but there is also staff there to help with morning breakfast, and snacks, and someone guarding the front door. Overall really nice, quiet, and safe.

HOLT hotel

Super pretty place. Comfy beds, very clean. They offered a great breakfast and afternoon snack. It’s a small 6 room boutique hotel. Lovely!
