The "Alte Schmiede" is located in the former village smithy, which was built in 1832 by Mr. Feddermann. That's how the street got its name.

The daughter of Feddermann married Wilke Ackermann who built the "Haus Ackermann" in 1862 next door. From 1862-1953 he and later his sons operated the village smithy. At this time the village smithy had up to 150 horses on "Hufbeschlag". In today's kitchen and dining area has been forged.

The forge fire was in the still existing, converted fireplace next to the kitchen. In the anteroom, the horses were harnessed.

In 1963, Karl Ackermann, grandson of Wilke Ackermann, built a restaurant in the forge, which was no longer in use. This remained until 1985 in the family business and was then sold to Kathe & Hans Ricks.

Since 2003, the family Ackermann manages the house independently and handed it over on 01. 01. 2007 to faithful hands to Susanna & Björn Lahmann. With the initially named Bar, the Cocktailschmiede and after specialization in the segment of Whiskeys, the Whiskeyplaza, led both to 2019 the catering trade. From 01. 03. 2020 it became the holiday apartment Alte Schmiede.

Mehr erwartet für das Geld
Wir waren 1 Woche in den Sommerferien in der Wohnung. Die Lage ist super, aber für das Geld habe ich mehr erwartet. Wir haben am ersten Tag eine Mail an den Vermieter geschickt und bis heute (2 Monate später) keine Reaktion erhalten. Auch nach 2 Mail, nichts.Wir haben vor Ort einige Mängel bemerkt, die nicht behoben wurden. Diese Wohnung soll für 8 Personen sein, aber dann sollte auch mindestens für jede Person genug Besteck, Sets und Becher da sein. War leider nicht der Fall. Und das was da war, war auch noch wild durcheinander gemischt. Also z.B. viele verschiedene Gläser, oder eben nicht genug. Keine Eierlöffel, keine Schneidebretter. Ein Stuhl am Esstisch war am Stuhlbein gebrochen, da hätte sich jemand ernsthaft verletzen können, und einige Stühle waren echt abgerockt. Die Bettwäsche war in keinem der Betten einheitlich und auch nicht ganz sauber. Es fehlten auch Bezüge. Die Terassen waren total dreckig, alte benutze Lappen und kaputte Besenreste lagen in der Ecke. Im ganzen Haus nichts für Kinder… halb so wild, aber wäre einfach nett gewesen, da wir das von anderen Ferienwohnungen schon gewohnt sind in der Preisklasse. Das kleine 1x1 bei einer schönen Ferienwohnung wurde nicht eingehalten und das sollte bei dem Preis ja wohl drin sein. Keine Infos über Insel oder Umgebung vorhanden, Fernsehsender schlecht sortiert und viele gar nicht vorhanden. Feuerstelle defekt. Schön gedacht, nicht gut gemacht. Schöne Wohnung mit Luft nach oben.

Es fehlte der Kontakt zum Vermieter. Sehr schwierig den Schlüssel zu bekommen. Außerdem gab es nur 1 Schlüssel. Sehr schlecht. Sauberkeit ließ zu wünschen übrig. Die Toiletten waren nicht sauber. Die Toilettendeckel kann man auch von unten säubern. Es fehlten Putzlappen, fürs Bad und die Küche. Es fehlte Info Material über die Insel ( der nächste Bäcker, Supermarkt, Gastronomie, Fahrräder, Krankenhaus, Busverkehr zur "Weissen Düne" usw. Gar nicht gut. Die Mülltonnen vor der Haustür waren übervoll und der Müll wurde von den Möwen und anderen Vögeln in den frühen Morgenstunden lautstark aus den Tonnen heraus befördert. Sehr unappetitlich. Die Aufteilung der Wohnung war super. Allerdings ist Einiges zu verbessern.
