The room smell bad and really needs to be renovated. The walls are cracked and dirty and there's a strong unpleasant smell in the room. Totally diferent from photos. The breakfast is good. Staffs are kind.

The hotel was amazing with exceptional service and clean with an excellent view from our room and idealy situated, the only very big downside is the amojnt of dogs that were in the hotel and alowed in the dining room, a big no no for me although I love pets, on one occasion my wife was walking into the restaurant and nearly stepped in dogs mess that was on the floor in the dinning room were we were eating our breakfast you need to address this problem for health reasons, unfortunately for this problem I will not be returning to this hotel any time soon. Unfortunately.

Hotel is fine for one night away. Parking is an issue, but down the road, if you dont mind a 2 minute walk, is a small 24hour car park, cheaper than the £10 per night the hotel charges. Floorboards in room 223 were extremely creaky. I feel sorry if anyone stays below. Walls were stained. In need of a repaint. Wobbly taps, broken shower (needs a new washer fitted to stop the leaking - not “ecofriendly”). Room unbearably hot during the night. Bed was comfy. Sheets were clean. Great location in the centre of town. Easy to walk to beaches and restaurants, but don’t stay more than one night.

While the staff are lovely, This place is tired and awful and in desperate need of a complete renovation. The photographer deserves a promotion for making the photos look as they did, but clearly it is photoshopped. The place is dark and dirty and smells like a mouldy dive bar, the beds are lumpy, the carpets stained and the bathrooms are gross. Its a shame because the location and the views are great!

Very grubby hotel

If the standard of the hotel decor , was as good as reception area, it would be a nice place to stay, sadly once you leave the reception the rest of the hotel including the rooms a grubby, with stains on the carpets in the room and corridor, it reminder me of a homeless shelter.

This hotel could definitely do with a make over as it looks tired. My one complaint was that breakfast was not included in the price so do not believe what you read on the internet that the price includes breakfast.

Hotel very dated but lovely and clean. Well done house keeping. All staff very friendly and its in a great position in Newquay for walking to the beaches. There is a Bus stop right outside the hotel to the airport which cost £3 each.

The main thing that made our stay a good experience was the staff, they were doing a good job. and made time to stop and chat. they realy look after the hotel and the guests who come to stay giving a good impression.they explained about the hotels past history that it was founded by the owners who built the cross country railway. It made our stay all the more interesting.thanks to the good people in newquay cornwall. and staff in the great western hotel.

A sad hotel

The hotel was in terrible condition in looks, comfort, etc. Even the elevator was not working and lugging luggage up flights of stairs was hard and dangerous, Rooms and hotel were not accurately represented on the website. Had requested a king bed did not get, Room’s fan in bathroom was loud and wouldn’t shut off so had to move, The hotel was just in a very sad state. I would never recommend, I must say though the view was sensational.

It was clean. My issues were the room was so hot it was hard to sleep at night. The street noise was disturbing so sleeping with the window open came with it’s one issues. I could not get the tap to run any cold water so we had to clean our teeth in hot water and couldn’t have a cold water drink drink.
