Comfortable and not expensive stay

Breakfast was fabulous. Hot water to the room took 15 minutes on all 4 days I was there. Room 439 maybe the furthest away from the boiler!!

The bed in the small double was very hard and could feel the springs in the mattress. Walking to the room the corridors were fairly unkempt between main property and lower rooms (508). This particular area felt quite sterile. Staff were very nice and Victoria in particular who was running the restaurant was really excellent. The pool facilities were also very good. Overall the hotel was good and the staff ran it well considering ladies day at the races made it rather busy. Although the small double is a budget friendly option I do feel the room food do with a little upgrading - new mattress etc

The room was noisy and totally unacceptable. Directly opposite lift and could hear whirring noises all night long. Also directly above gym with pressure releases every so often really loud aswell. Hortific few days.

Bad experience

Overall it was pretty bad, the room was dirty when we arrived and were told no one was available to clean it till the next morning. Complaining sorted that but poor. I expected servicing the room to be makingbedhoover etc. No change of towels only. A £7 charge per person to use the leisure centre seemed ridiculous considering the price we paid. NN ever ever heard of that before. Some staff lovely some gruff and disinterested. Had great breaks there in the past, never again. It's fine in most of the public areas, in the rooms and the leisure centre way way over priced and unacceptable.

This was my first time staying at the Grand Hotel Gosforth Park but it certainly won't be my last. Lovely hotel, excellent gym / pool / spa facilities, plentiful parking, lovely food and drinks, lovely staff, lovely room with a huge window for lots of natural light. Highly recommended.

Wouldn’t stay here again

Grounds really I’ve, reception nice. Then it all went down hill with room. Needs repainting, iron and ironing board were cheap and about 30years old. Nice big tv. Pillows and duvet felt cheap and for a 4 star want expecting all the bad bits. Bedroom just above travel lodge standards. Also, pool & gym was extra money on top of room rate. I stay away lots and I have never had to pay extra for this on top of the room rate. I could understand if rooms were cheap but this want the case. Breakfast was nice. Wouldn’t stay here again. Walls were so thin I could hear people talking in rooms below and to the side of me.

This was a repeat booking at short notice on a Sunday. I was left waiting at checkin for a period of time while the one member of staff attended to another customer faffing about bedding (or something). My room was, clean, well appointed - though with a lack of area lighting. The cold water tape oscillated badly and loudly to the extent that I was reluctant to use it at night. It was stiff to operate; there was no air in the pipe suggesting a valve not water ham. The kettle would not boil water at any level of fill I tried as it kept cutting off, then restarting indicating the safety cutout was activating. Thr installed air conditioning unit did not work - seemingly - and a fan was supplied to help move air around the room which helped somewhat....but was noisy at night. There were some marks and staining on the bedroom wall implying a coffee splash. The rest of the hotel was very good, and married a 'heavy' 1970s style with modern fittings, lighting and art works. The bar staff were attentive and the items priced reasonably. The charge for the 'leisure facility' (pool, hot tub, steam and sauna rooms) was a little high but everything was clean, tidy and well maintained. The surrounding area is semi-rural and I could find a 9k / 5mile run easily mostly on paths, tracks and old-roads converted to cycle ways around the racecourse. The presence of the MacDonalds, Pub and Asda Express across the road was welcome - though cross the road at peak period in the morning was tricky

A comfortable place to stay.

Room 331 back on to the lift shaft. How did I know? Because you could hear the lifts arrive and open the doors every time they reached floor 3!! Breakfast was excellent with a great choice. Shame guests get charged £7 to access the pool.
