Clearwater Haven

Get away from it all at Clearwater Haven, a modern, fully self-contained holiday house set on 107 acres on Kangaroo Island.

With 30 acres of native bushland, mature gum trees and abundant wildlife, there's plenty of space to slow down and enjoy the outdoors. The house feels wonderfully secluded, with glimpses of Nepean Bay from the large entertainment deck and direct access to a secluded 7km sandy beach just 200 metres away via a track through the property.

Kangaroos and wallabies often graze nearby, while echidnas and native birdlife are occasional visitors. The combination of open countryside, native bushland and nearby coastline makes Clearwater Haven a peaceful base for families, friends, couples and nature lovers.

The house

Built in 2011, Clearwater Haven is a light-filled, open-plan home comfortably sleeping up to 6 adults and 2 infants.

The house is well suited to a large family, two small families or a group of friends.

Luxury Sheridan linen, bath towels and beach towels are provided. All bedrooms have blackout blinds and curtains for peaceful country sleeps. Cot linen is available on request.

The fully equipped kitchen has everything you need for a comfortable stay, including a full oven, microwave, dishwasher, toaster, crockery and cooking essentials. Complimentary tea, coffee and milk are provided.

A washing machine, laundry and dishwashing detergents, hand and body soap and other everyday essentials are also provided, making the house well suited to longer stays.

The split bathroom has a shower, full-sized bath, toilet and vanity in separate spaces, which is particularly practical for families and groups.

Direct beach access

A track through native vegetation leads approximately 200 metres from the house to a beautiful sandy beach on Nepean Bay.

This is a particularly quiet and secluded stretch of coastline, and you are likely to see few if any other people during your stay.

The calm waters are suitable for swimming year-round, kayaking, fishing and boating, while the long stretch of sand is perfect for walking and exploring.

At low tide, warm shallow pools form along parts of the beach and can be especially enjoyable for younger children.

Bring a fishing rod and try your luck from the beach, or bring a small boat. A Council-maintained boat launch is approximately 1km from the property.

Wildlife, bush & nature

The property is a wonderful base for wildlife lovers, photographers and anyone who enjoys being outdoors.

Explore the 107 acres on foot, with native grass trees, mature gums, open countryside and natural bushland to discover.

Kangaroos and wallabies are frequent visitors, particularly around the open areas and tree line. Echidnas and abundant native birdlife can also be seen.

Early morning and late afternoon are particularly beautiful times to enjoy the property, when wildlife is often active and the changing light brings the landscape to life.

Relax and enjoy the deck

Not every day needs an itinerary.

The large entertainment deck is a natural gathering place for long lunches, morning coffee and sunset drinks. Fire up the barbecue for dinner or cook the day's catch while enjoying the surrounding bush and wildlife.

After sunset, connect your favourite tunes to the Bluetooth stereo or cast your own movies to the smart TV.

Inside, you'll also find books, board games and movies, as well as a comfortable writing desk with a fully adjustable chair.

For a true island experience, pick up a bottle from one of Kangaroo Island's local wineries and settle in for the evening.

Off-grid and eco-friendly

Clearwater Haven is an eco-friendly, off-grid home powered by ample solar power with rainwater supply.

Mobile network coverage is available in and around the house, although Vodafone coverage on Kangaroo Island is limited.

Access to the property includes an unsealed road, but a standard car is suitable for island travel.

Guest access

Guests have exclusive use of Clearwater Haven and access to the full 107-acre property, including the track leading from the house to the beach.

The beach is approximately 200 metres from the house, across your own property.
