The Hotel has and is undergoing some renovations with a clear desire to elevate up. Location is lovely as is the view from the ocean facing rooms. Really appreciated the Nespresso machine and creamers in the fridge.
Currently they are missing a huge opportunity by not having their Front Desk staff, in particular, trained in customer service at the same level the hotel hopes to achieve.
As first point of contact there was no greeting, actually no interest in us or our arrival other than getting my credit card to take security deposit (reservation was prepaid months ago). No sharing of the hotels amenities, and no mention of check out time.
The next morning, 5 minutes after 11am housekeeping is banging (well loudly knocking as they could hear the hair dryer) on the door, immediately followed by the Front Desk phoning asking when we’d be out.
Now if this was a busy conference hotel with numerous check in and check outs all expected I would fully understand, but this is Parksville, a busy SUMMER vacation town, and it’s now mid-November well in to the shoulder season.
We were granted 20 extra minutes so completed our packing and promptly checked out. Again, no greeting, no questions about how was our stay, no thank you for coming or safe travels or hope to see you again.
For context, there was no one else waiting to check in or out and 2 staff on, both when we checked in and checked out.
