Poor experience

Despite having written confirmation of our requirements, we found ourselves compromised. The hotel is not in a great location and the service was pretty poor. The quality of the bedding which is usually a differentiator for Sofitel was not up to standard and we had two terrible nights sleep. Overall a poor experience especially for the price point.

The hotel had asked me to pay extra 60€ in order to let me access the room earlier while I was checking in around 12:45pm as the official check in time is 3:00pm. I thought it’s totally insane because it’s a common practice for most hotel to offer flexibility when the room is ready. Especially it’s already in the afternoon. It’s a wipe off and no 5 stars hotel dares to treat its guests like this. Eventually they offered me to access the room immediately if I agreed to become a member of the hotel group. And I made the application to exchange for access. Honestly it’s an insult because I have never be demanded to pay like this. In fact. I had stayed in grand Hyatt Berlin before moving to Munich. Grand Hyatt allowed me to access the room around 12pm. May be Hyatt Group is a better choice.

Overall, we had a wonderful stay at the hotel. Service, staff and amenities were great. The bedding was very comfortable. The one thing that we didn’t like was that the breakfast was rather pricy and wasn’t worth it. I didn’t appreciate all my children being charged as adults.

The hotel is situated close to old town but in a not so great area by the train station. When we arrived the water was turned off and our room was very antiquated. Our room was positioned by the cleaning room so banging started every morning around 7:30 and was very loud with dinging and doors closing. The front desk was good.

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at this hotel. From the very beginning, the staff gave us a warm and thoughtful welcome. They had prepared a beautiful birthday surprise in the room — a stunning gift and fresh flowers, which made the occasion feel truly special. The room itself was luxurious, spacious, and impeccably clean — everything was perfect for a relaxing stay. The only disappointment was that Alexander Sleath at the front desk unfortunately forgot to book our airport taxi for the next morning, even though we had requested it in advance. This caused a bit of confusion early in the morning. However, we’re incredibly grateful to another staff member who quickly arranged a transfer for us just in time — thanks to them, we made it to the airport without delay. Despite this minor issue, our overall experience was excellent, and we would gladly return. Highly recommended!

Asked to extend stay by 1 day and was told fully booked by receptionist. Stood in reception and booked immediately via Hitels.com with 3 types of accommodation available. Checked out and then checked in again. Room was nice, shame the shower had no hot water, TV didn’t work and the max room temperature was 21 degrees - only discovered the flaws in the morning! Travel a lot in Europe on business and normally look for a Sofitel - NOT ANYMORE!
