Idle Awhile Cabin on 36 Acres – Luxury Meets Historic Charm in the Ozarks

Find your happy place at Idle Awhile Cabin, a luxurious lakefront retreat perched on 36 private acres. Tucked deep into the rolling hills of the Ozark Mountains, this 2,000-square-foot cabin offers the perfect blend of country seclusion and modern luxury—with no neighbors in sight, and public lake access just under a mile away.

The home features an opulent king suite plus another spacious queen bedroom and two full bathrooms. There is a Murphy bed and a pullout couch in the living room to comfortably sleep up to 8 adult guests, with a crib also available for your littles.

Originally built in the mid-1800s as a pioneer homestead, this cabin has been lovingly restored by family and friends using reclaimed materials from the original structure. Every beam and board tells a story—repurposed with care to retain the charm and character of the home’s frontier past, while seamlessly blending in modern comforts.

Inside, you'll find a fully-equipped gourmet kitchen, brand-new appliances, and impeccably-finished bathrooms designed for relaxation and comfort.

Outside, take in the views from the enormous covered back porch or explore your own private hiking trail. You’ll enjoy total privacy and stunning scenery from your doorstep. Bring your boat, your ATVs, or your kayaks—there's plenty of room to park all your toys and gear on the private drive.

To help you have fun and make the most of your stay, we provide:

Oh my God! This place is wonderful.. It has: amazing view, seclusion, privacy, modern everything, swimming at the private dock, "no noise", wildlife everywhere, but it wasn't far from restaurants.... or anything else that we needed. The home was amazing, beautiful woodwork.. The attention to detail is everywhere, all new stuff. And the beds were big and killer comfortable. We didn't need it but you could section it into two different living areas for privacy. It was well stocked and was spotlessly clean. All we did was sleep late, eat, swim, and relax. The owners are near-by and were extremely helpful with anything that we needed. We will definitely come back. ;)

Our family had a great stay at Idle Awhile! You can tell that this cabin has been built with love and, frankly, a lot of talent. The Murphy bed was handmade, and the woodwork throughout the cabin totally floored me. The enormous, well-equipped kitchen (plus coffees/creamers/teas, and a bottle of wine and 6-pack) had plenty of room to put our own supplies. We had coffee in the morning on the back porch, with a stunning view of the lake. Lake access was very close by, and the rental came with two kayaks, life vests, and noodles for playtime on the water. The public boat access is nearby.Several nights we sat out by the firepit, enjoying hanging out together without feeling like neighbors were on top of us. The owners live nearby and are responsive, but gave us our privacy.Beds and furniture were comfy-this place was the opposite of old and beat up!
