Fantastic place, I don’t think the pics do it justice. Mme Lafond trés gentille and does the owner justice. We didn’t have a contact number but that was quickly remedied. I think we will definitely be back. C’était superbe. Merci x

Fantastic apartment with stunning views

An absolutely stunning apartment with amazing views of Monaco and the Mediterranean from the private balcony. Our housekeeper recommended dining at the restaurants in the medieval village - a 10 minute (uphill) walk up a path at the back gates. The food and the ambience at the restaurants was fantastic - we ate at 3 different place during our week! Thoroughly recommend!

Very Unique Spot

Super unique spot legitimately in a chateau. I really liked the small medieval town of Roquebrune as well. Only issue was that AC was not working, but I was assured it is being fixed! So can't blame them for that. Madame Lefond is great- helpful if you know even just a tiny bit of french.

Very nice view and somewhat remote location

It clean, quiet, very simple, and has a nice view. There are four locks to get through to the apartment and someone must be onsite to let you in. This requires some coordination and inconveniences depending on your travel schedule. There was no soap anywhere to wash hands in any sink. So bring your own. You need to make your own bed, so give yourself time before bed to do that. The building dated, very large, and feels like nobody else is there. That is a good thing if you want to be away from people, but it feels like a haunted house if you like some energy around you. There is nothing happening around here and you are 20 minutes by car to Monaco.

Perfect location

The view from the apt is stunning. The apt building and grounds are beautiful and well-kept. Mme. Lafond was helpful and reliable in assisting us with check-in and out, even though our flight was delayed and we arrived late in the night. We hope to return to this gem of a location in Roquebrun.

Everything was great except the contact person did not speak English and we do not speak French. So we had to involve our French friends to communicate for us. Also I would recommend the owner to provide shampoo as we would expect it in any rental place. Honestly, we did not have time to go shopping for a shampoo and we could not bring it from overseas. Location is great! View is unbeatable! The size of the apartment is very roomy and comfortable. I would recommend it.

The condo was very clean and spacious. The patio looking out to Monaco was spectacular! Jonathan was very responsive with all our question. Mme Lafond was very helpful as well. We would definitely recommend you stay here. When we come back to the Cote D’Azur we will stay at Johnathan’s again for sure!

Magnificent Sea View!

Nice stay! A lovely French host. Modern small European kitchen with everything you need. Nice bathrooo. If you love to hike and go for long walks and adventure, this is it! Visit the chateau medieval. The local bus is nearby to take you to any train station and Menton and Italy. A nice Cafe and a restaurant nearby with outdoor dining. A very special place. I will definitely stay here again.

A week at Château de la Mere

The château is beautiful inside and outside, the patio / balcony was massive and had amazing views across the bay to Monaco. The apartment was well equipped with everything we needed to self cater for our week. It was easy to locate and had a dedicated parking space. There were a few minor issues that required to be addressed (advised to property manager) ie the toilet seat was the incorrect size and kept coming lose, the electrical supplies tripped (reset ok), cooker extractor light defective - the apartment was very clean however a little TLC is required of the extractor fans and overhead fan to remove the dust. We would certainly recommend to friends and consider staying here again if I’m the area. Thank you for a wonderful week

Great Time

The apartment is modern and clean. The view from the veranda is surreal. We were there during the Monaco Yacht Show so there were dozens of small to giant yachts in the bay. Roquebrune is a little medieval village with some wonderful restaurants and a tine little grocery with it's own wine cave. Bring your walking shoes and defibrillation. We visited Monte Carlo, Menton, Eze, Village Frans Su Mer, Cap Ferret, St. Paul de Vence and were captured by the individual character of each little town. Antibes, Cannes are also within easy (1 hour) driving distance. As for driving, just getting around gives you a Formula 1 experience. Back to the unit, the Chateau is unique. It has a wonderful park like grounds, a nice pool area, easy parking, and is kept spotless. The bed is the most comfortable I've ever slept in, the tub/shower, separate toilet were new and well lit. It is a very nice place. We had a great time. Scott from Indianapolis

Our second stay in this fantastic apartment. The addition of the air conditioning units have made this accommodation 5 star; we very much appreciated this as the weather was very hot. Stylish South of France Lifestyle Holiday

The apartment is clean, comfortable and has a fully equipped kitchen. We brought Nespresso pods with us for the coffee machine. The well-kept chateau and gardens exude an opulence of yesteryear and the illuminated pool is perfect for an evening swim. The spectacular view of Monaco and the ever-changing parade of yachts and other watercraft give a wonderful backdrop to life on the terrace. The (new?) air-con units (living room and bedroom) are excellent, as is the view of the hills from the bedroom window in the morning. We used our car for trips to the local supermarket (Utile – 4 mins), to the busy tourist town of Merton and to the small Roquebrune train station for day trips to Monaco (10 mins) and Nice (30 mins). Walking – Up to the Medieval centre (very picturesque with great restaurants) and down to the beach, all via ‘escalier’ (pedestrian only paths). The 90 minute coastal path walk around the ‘Cap’ is breath-takingly beautiful with many opportunities for a picnic or to swim off of the rocks. Roquebrune is a classy, residential neighbourhood with a great South of France atmosphere. Negatives? It was quite expensive and there was always the worry it would not be worth it but after arriving we happily realized it was money extremely well spent. Improvements? Something for outdoor food preparation? BBQ/Raclette grill/Fondue set…….but I really got nothing. 😊 A superb holiday!

A lovely modern apartment in a fantastic building. Spacious living/dining area, large comfortable bed and great kitchen facilities (fab coffee machine). The terrace is amazing and we spent most of our days on it. A fan in the bedroom would make sleeping more comfortable as leaving the windows open at night meant inviting insects to feast. It’s about a 10 minute walk to the village where you will find some great restaurants, a small grocery shop and a cafe. If you are looking for a comfortable, peaceful apartment, then I thoroughly recommend this one.

Better than we expected!

This apartment is unusual in that it is actually nicer than it appears in the pictures on the site. The deck is huge and has fantastic views of the bay below and Monte-Carlo. The unit appears to be in like new condition with new appliances and a well equipped kitchen. It is in the Château de la Mer which is a nice, renovated and condomiumized building. Parking is provided. The only caution is that if you’re driving into Monte-Carlo several miles away, parking there is almost nonexistent.

We stayed in the apartment for 2 wonderful weeks in March 2018. The location in Roquebrune was ideal – easy to get around to all the nearby towns and villages. The apartment was very comfortable – the kitchen was well appointed and easy to work in. The bed was very comfortable. The deck outside was spacious and well equipped. We sat there at the end of the day and just enjoyed the view looking off to Monaco. We highly recommend this unit and hope to return again.
