A Deeply Disappointing Stay – Far From 5-Star I stayed at Fairmont Monte Carlo for 14 nights, expecting comfort and service. Instead, it was one of my most frustrating hotel stays. At check-in, staff claimed I booked a different room and refused to check my confirmation. Only after repeated pushback did they correct it. The bellboy said breakfast was included for all 14 days. Later, I was told it wasn’t and would cost €70 per person/day. When I raised this, I was met with excuses and even laughed at by front desk staff. No accountability. Service was cold, dismissive, and unprofessional. I never once felt welcomed or respected. I chose not to spend anything at the hotel’s restaurants or bars, including Nobu and Amoo—they didn’t earn my business. Housekeeping was unacceptable. Used shower caps were taken from the trash and placed back in the shower. Essentials like body wash, tissues, and slippers were often missing. What upset me most wasn’t one incident—it was the consistent negligence and lack of care over two weeks. No one ever followed up or took ownership. The “5-star” title may suit the building, but not the experience. Look elsewhere if you expect real hospitality.

Everything was great at the hotel however the room I’d booked wasn’t available (2 x double beds) - we were advised the king bed would be big enough for 3 .. not true! So we ended up with a temporary bed added to the room which was extremely uncomfortable for my 17 year old. Finally after complaining again we were given the original room with 2 doubles. Not the garden view we were promised but a sea view however I think the room needed a little refreshing. The rest of the hotel was beautiful and staff were excellent, breakfast was amazing with a beautiful view over the med towards the harbour. If it wasn’t for the room debacle / faff it would have been a 5 star stay.

Overpriced and run down. Wenwere changed from our hairpin view to a sea view which they called an upgrade but we didnt ask for. So we didnt get to see the hairpin from our room. The bed was comfy but the pillows.. wow they were the worst pillows i have ever seen.

Quite a shame the way this went. We booked a suite with the sea view which was one of the best rooms they offer, and what they gave us was a room that was not finished with renovations and a bathroom that was did not have any fixtures, lighting, and in fact wiring hanging from the ceiling. There were no mirrors installed yet and the walls of the bedroom were not finished. We only discovered all of this after the wife was looking for a mirror for the beautification process...which is critical to happiness for a lady! After calling a few times to explain the dis-satisfaction, they agreed to move us. That move was to a proper room that was finished with a sea view. The most frustrating think was the lost time unpacking-packing-unpacking again and missing a couple things that were not returned of found form the unfinished room. For me it is very rare to have an experience like this form a 5 star place but I think this place is so big you're like a commodity to them. It's almost like the all inclusive resorts but everything is ala-cart$$$$$$

This Fairmont location fails to meet the standards typically associated with the brand. The hotel did not have the room ready at the promised check-in time, resulting in an unreasonably late check-in. Despite this delay, management attempted to charge for a late check-out — a tone-deaf and frustrating policy given the circumstances. The overall operation felt disorganized and poorly managed. Frontline staff appeared unsupported and lacked clear direction, which points to a failure in leadership rather than individual performance. The absence of structure and training was evident throughout the guest experience. Having stayed at other Fairmont properties, the contrast in service quality was stark. This property simply does not reflect the level of professionalism and hospitality one expects from the brand. The core issue seems to stem from ineffective management and a lack of accountability at the leadership level. Not recommended — especially for guests familiar with the higher standards upheld by other Fairmont locations.

There was an issue in the booking because I booked from 19-21 and because I’d passed midnight the booking was only from 20-21. So I had to buy the first night at the hotel at a different rate.

Generally a nice hotel in the heart of Monte Carlo. Had a great view of the Hairpin. Room was what expected from a Fairmont as well as breakfast. My only criticism was reception and the concierge was a little crazy and as 2 women were regularly overlooked. Being a man seems key
