The hotel was fully booked for a concert nearby so you'd think they'd pull some stops. The staff were friendly enough, but this is definitely a mid hotel. The coolest thing going for it was the history and architecture. Midwest can have back and forth weather, but the rooms were quite warm. We requested fans and that helped but there is no cooling system in place otherwise. Our friends were also staying and they ended up in a garden level that hummed constantly. At first, staff were confused and denied such a thing, but then they claimed it was the laundry. They promised it would stop by the evening but it was still going. It definitely would have made them go insane so we swapped with them. When we moved in, it was clear that there were design flaws. The bed frame being metal and jutting out in a somewhat tight space--my fiance and I have bruises from hitting our shins on it. We attempted to open the drawers of the nightstand and it was stickied shut, so something leaked and they didn't catch the spill. There was also a lighter underneath the nightstand. There is only one trash reciprical near the door to the room. Nothing in the bathroom. Anyhow, it really was just design flaws that made the room not as nice as other places we have stayed. The bathroom was nicely renovated though. The breakfast was a let-down with little offerings and the parking situation was a garage behind with little help from staff since they weren't associated. $60 for a two nights, three day park-ew.
