ED Refnr. 2880290
La Casa delle Rose is set in a vast flower garden, surrounded by vineyards, olive groves, orchards and other dense vegetation in a mutual contamination of Mediterranean colours, smells and flavours. It has its own private outdoor area, cosy and immersed in greenery. Two centuries-old carob trees mark the garden, from which there is a breathtaking view over the valley and the sea. The atmosphere is typically Mediterranean. A stay at the Casa delle Rose is a genuine Sicilian experience, where rurality and tradition guarantee a familiar and authentic welcome and hospitality. The possibility of spending pleasant moments of relaxation, enjoying private outdoor spaces, enriches this feeling of wellbeing, ease and intimacy. Outside, in their small gardens and verandas covered with reeds and bordered by palms, bougainvilleas, rose bushes and jasmine, guests can indulge in their moments of food and also enjoy the cool evenings that Sicily's temperate evening climate gives us. In addition to the spaces that specifically pertain to the House of Roses, guests can enjoy the Belvedere over the Menfi countryside that merges to the south with the sea line, as well as the vegetable garden of Case Graffeo, located in an area bordered by a colourful hedge of prickly pears. The vegetables and greens, strictly organic, that the Graffeo family produces in this garden can be harvested directly by guests, who can then use them to prepare delicious dishes of the local culinary tradition.La Casa delle Rose nel Borgo di Case Graffeo is an ideal place to spend a pleasant naturalistic and cultural holiday in western Sicily. From Menfi, by car and in some cases also by bicycle, in absolute relaxation and taking between 15 and 60 minutes, crossing gentle hills and admiring wonderful natural landscapes, it is possible to reach and visit numerous sites of historical and archaeological interest; to name but a few the Archaeological Park of Selinunte and Cave di Cusa - the most extensive evidence of Greek domination in Sicily -, the Greek Temple and Theatre of Segesta, the Oriented Nature Reserves of the Belice River and the Zingaro, the Scala dei Turchi the Greek Temple of Concordia and with it all the others that enrich and adorn the famous and marvellous Valley of the Temples in Agrigento - included since 1997 in the list of World Heritage Sites drawn up by UNESCO - and then Mazara del Vallo with the Museum that preserves its Dancing Satyr - an emblem of Mediterranean beauty, an example of the submerged cultural heritage recovered in the sea of Sicily - and the Salt Pans of Marsala, Erice and Trapani.
In addition to the spaces specifically pertaining to the Casa delle Rose, which include a large, bright, reed-covered veranda on the ground floor, as well as a covered terrace with a roof of chestnut beams and wood and a panoramic view over the valley and the sea, guests can enjoy the Belvedere over the Menfi countryside that merges to the south with the sea line, as well as the Case Graffeo vegetable garden, set in an area bordered by a colourful hedge of Prickly Pears; The vegetables and greens, strictly organic, which the Graffeo family produces in this garden, can be picked directly by the guests and processed by them for the preparation of delicious dishes of the local culinary tradition.
Casa delle Rose, is accessible through a large veranda covered with reeds, bordered on one side by an ancient stone wall, evidence of the pre-existing farmhouse from the second half of the 19th century, and on the other by a colourful rose garden from which we took our inspiration for the name of this house. It is arranged on two floors. On the ground floor you are welcomed into the spacious and bright living area, from which, in addition to the lush surrounding countryside, you can glimpse the colours of a centuries-old Bougainvillea that paints the horizon as it flows into the sea. A strongly distinctive element of the house, as well as of this area, is the ancient, exposed stone wall, also a testimony to the old farmhouse mentioned above, which borders one side of it. The living room is equipped with all comforts; the furnishings combine tradition, typicality and rurality with simplicity, sobriety and essentiality. It is also distinguished by the presence of a large and efficient cooking corner in which the predominant element, as well as a link with the rural tradition of the area, is a hob and work surface made of ceramic tiles produced by a Master Ceramist from Sciacca; these tiles feature the colours, designs, geometries and inserts of 18th-century Sciacca ceramic production. Adjacent to the living area, our guests can make use of a small pantry and a separate area enclosing the laundry room. Outside the living room, in the reed-covered veranda, guests can indulge in their meals and also enjoy the cool evenings that Sicily's temperate evening climate gives us. The ground floor is completed by one of the two bedrooms with which the house is equipped. This first bedroom overlooks, through a large and bright French window, the veranda bordered by the rose garden and a hedge of oleanders. This room is also characterised by the presence of the oft-mentioned old stone wall, which in this case is enclosed in a masonry frame forming a picture above the headboard of the double bed. It has at its disposal an independent room service that can also be used by the disabled. The furniture includes the double bed, walk-in wardrobe and chest of drawers. The large French window can be closed by curtains made of completely blackout material to allow maximum comfort for guests who prefer to rest in the dark. From the living area, the Upper Floor is reached by means of an internal staircase with a single ramp, typical of rural dwellings in the area, which provides access to the second bedroom of the House. This one, to the south, enjoys the view and the landscape of the valley and the sea through a large and bright window. A French window, on the other hand, on the north side of the room, opens onto a reed-covered veranda from which, reclining on simple, linear but comfortable armchairs, it is possible to enjoy the cool northern breeze and the geometries designed by the luxuriant rows of vines that border the House area. There is also an independent room service. The furnishings include two single beds that can be converted into a double bed, a walk-in wardrobe and a chest of drawers. Special curtains on the window frames, made of completely blackout material, provide maximum comfort for guests who prefer to rest in the dark. The House, also on the Upper Floor, also has a very bright veranda, covered with beams and chestnut planking from Etna, which faces south through a large window. The latter, delimiting the wide and deep panorama that can be seen, effectively becomes the frame of the natural picture it creates, in which the 'painting' is represented by the countryside, the valley and the sea that closes the background. The house is fully air-conditioned and Wi-Fi is always active and accessible in all its internal and external areas.
