Have stayed here many times over the years and is one of my most favourites. If you want modern and flash then this is not the place for you. If you want classic, clean great location and staff, and a really great price then this IS the hotel for you. This building is over 100 years old and was a hospital when first built. It's a great vibe and best location to get to main parts of Melbourne City and anywhere outside as close to Flinders station and the new stations that open end of 2025. Tram at end of street and also down lane way inf don't of hotel. Vic's bar is cosy and ypu can also sit and drink out on the mezzanine level as well. As it's an older building, the hallways and getting to your oom can be a bit of an adventure as each level has slightly different levels on each floor. But that's what makes this place so cool to stay it. Give it a go and anything you need, just ask Melanie and the rest of the staff there who always want to help you enjoy your stay. J! 🙏👍😁

The room was tiny with two single beds with a view of an inner roof courtyard. Fine for one night at the theater which was just around the corner. Great location. But the smell in the bathroom was atrocious. It smelt like sewer and bleach. I opened the window and ran the water for a bit and it went away but it wasn't nice to walk into. We wore crocs in the shower just in case. You really can't beat the location though and I would stay again, just don't expect anything luxurious or modern.

Fast check-in room available early so was able to put luggage into room and go shopping. Older hotel in a great location close to most theatres. The rooms very clean and fresh bedding. Well priced for centre of Melbourne. Have stayed there a few times.

Disappointed.

The location was just great. However, the room 475 windows faced windows of the opposite room one of them a bathroom. Although it was a clouded window, I was subjected to views of people bathing constantly and had to keep my blinds down all through. The other window gave a direct view into my room. Hence no sunshine in my 5 day stay. Not once was I asked if my stay was okay. No help carrying bags to my room. No help carrying bags down at checkout - I was told there’s only 2 of us and we are quite to help you. This was at 9am. I wasn’t leaving for the airport until 4pm. I requested a late checkout - was told there would be a $50 fee. Never ever have I heard that. Room Service - beds were made and my used towels folded, basket emptied. No vacuuming, no hair off the floor in the bathroom, no toothpaste stuck in the basin removed. It all just stayed as is. The room itself had dirty stains on the skirting. I’d pick another hotel for this price in the same area. Very disappointed.
