Outside on the balcony there were smoking areas that were not clearly marked as smoking areas. guests were smoking during breakfast regardless of children dining around. Tables were left unclean until asked..chairs and cutlery had to be found by the guests themselves. Property facilities (washroom, toilet, barhroom , doors and other facilities) seemed very dated. Our room although was supposed to be non smoking room was smelling smoke and cigarettes.

Located in the clock tower everyone warned it would take a long time to get in and out of the hotel. It actually wasnt too bad. The hotel itself was clean and the views from breakfast were stunning. Our first room a standard Haram view room was of a decent size for a family of 4 with a double and 2 singles. The bathroom was adequate size, and the showers were powerful and hot. The staff were helpful particularly Abdullah and a lady who helped us when we had a problem with our bathroom door when we got stuck inside and the handle came off...resulting in a room upgrade to a suite which was also lovely. Breakfast was fresh with fair options, the waiter bought is fresh omelettes from the kitchen made as requested, with fresh parathas and a kadak tea option. Overall a pleasent stay.

The hotel has two restaurants and the location is good. The hotel also offers an open-terrace breakfast option. However, the staff member standing at the entrance repeatedly asked guests to go to another floor and did not allow guests to have breakfast in the open terrace.

Room was neglected. One bed had a metal piece sticking out of it! It poked my thigh, luckily I saw it on time. The beds itself was like the ones in a hooker type hotel! It was ripped up in many places. The blankets were thin enough to give us alll the cough and flu! The thermostat didn't work to increase temperature up as we needed it. There is only one thin pillow per bed, whereas even 2 star hotels have at least 2! Yep, 5 star hotel felt like a 2 star. The food was great. One staff guided us to the Makkah towers in the wrong direction, which was literally a block away. We had to spend 20 riyal for taxi and missed maghreb Salah in the Haram.

The day we reached with family after a total of 17 hours flight from Canada via dubai to the hotel... the hotel said expedia has not updated that our reservation was not booked and said expedia did not update the system to reglect your booking... we had to wait for an hour or so after this long journey before they said they expedia updated the system... the next morning we went for breakfast and the hotel said our breakfast is not included.... they said expedia did not update it again... when i xhatted with expedia customer rep that day and after sending a screen shot of my booking to the rep he then only understood that my breakfast is included...otherwise he also said he sees breakfast with a fee... after insisting the expedia rep to send an email
