Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, communication, location, listing accuracy
Easy check in, great communication from the host. Houses were well equipped with everything we needed. One of the bathrooms listed as en suite wasn't actually, but that didn't impact us at all. One of the bedrooms is only accessible through another bedroom -- we didn't end up needing it, but it would have been awkward to use for anything but, say, kids of the people staying in the attached king bed room. Houses worked out perfectly for us, area seemed great for activities, though we didn't explore it much ourselves.

8/10 Good

Liked: Check-in, communication, location, listing accuracy
We had a wonderful stay at the McGaheysville properties we rented. The location was excellent, with easy access to everything we wanted to do, and the resort truly had something for everyone in our group to enjoy. Renting two homes worked out perfectly for our family. We really enjoyed the Luray Cavers, hiking, and kayaking. Our host was outstanding, extremely responsive, communicative, and accommodating throughout the entire process. They were quick to answer questions/issues and made sure we had everything we needed, which made our stay even more enjoyable. The only area for improvement was that the Grand Lodge could have benefited from a deeper cleaning. We understand this can be difficult with back-to-back bookings, and it didn't take away from our overall experience, but it's something that could make future stays even better.Overall, we had a great experience and would happily stay here again. We especially appreciate our host's exceptional hospitality and would definitely recommend these properties to others.

4/10 Poor

Disliked: Cleanliness, check-in, communication
You have to pay for the pool access which is not written anywhere on any of the communication or vrbo listing. There was droll on the pillows. One house had dirty BBQ utensils so we did not use it. The one we did use, was so filled with grease that it DID cause a GREESE FIRE that was VERY scary. We were thankfully able to put out whithout anyone getting hurt. The hot tub was dirty. There was mold in the down stairs bathroom and between the doors to go outside. Upstairs the king size bed in the masters bedroom is broken causing it to be lopsided and is very easy to fall off. There is one door that goes to outside in one of the homes that the door does not lock. Communication is terrible because it's a 3rd party (host- vacay away- then vrbo). The house owner goes through vacay away (which was very confusing and has their own rule which are not the same as vrbo)The house is beautiful and very spacious but the Communication and cleanliness really need some work! They really need to realize how important deep cleaning is as it caused a hazard.
