Beautiful location, amazing sunsets, rented the house in October 2024.Got there late and the AC was on. The instructions for heat/AC were not in a prominent place and did not find them for more than an hour. When I did, the instructions were old and the heating system and particularly the thermostat were new and complicated. This was a serious problem because it was 45 degrees outside and the AC was on high and the temperature inside was 67 and dropping. VRBO wanted to send someone over and it was after midnight so I did not want someone coming over then and besides the local contact was 300 miles away in NJ. I started pushing the many buttons on the thermostat and 2 hours later I hit the right one and it switched to heat. The problem was instructions were out of date and no one could be reached for help. The house was immaculate the porches and balcony were nice, there were 2 one person kayaks and a 2 person kayak (not a canoe). Another thing I found upsetting was the TV. Effectively there was no TV because only pay channels (NETFLIX, YouTube, etc) were available, no local or cable channels. Forget the baseball playoffs and the NFL. In my long history of motels, hotels and VRBO rentals I never had to pay for TV. I found this unacceptable. The place was appropriately furnished, it is large (3 bedrooms), immaculately cleaned, and once reached the local contacts were responsive and the sunsets incredible. Would I rent it again? I’m not sure.ps. The house is right next to the bay. The only road to the house goes throug a salt marsh to the slightly raised sandy area where the house is located. We went into Crisfield one day during a very high tide and for more than a mile the road was covered with a few inches of salt water. Not good for the underneath of the car, but there is a hose at the house for rinsing.
