We had a short break at Dreams Madeira Resort. First impressions were that the resort was lovely, Renata on reception was very welcoming. She helped us book ahead for 2 restaurants - highly recommend Oishi Teppanyaki and Carvao the food was excellent! We found the world food buffet restaurant varied. The resort had a good selection of bars, restaurants, a cafe & an ice cream shop by the marina! We stayed in a double room which was nicely decorated and a good size. Had a bath and shower! Some thought needs to go into layout/storage - not much drawer space and no mirrors with electrical points for drying hair etc. There was some times when there was a sewage smell but not sure why as it did then clear. The location is a bit remote, however with everything on site you would have everything you need for a relaxing break. The PR8 hike is in walking distance and the hotel offer a shuttle to Funchal for the day - €10each way pp. They have a guest experience team to help arrange other activities and whale/dolphin boat tours at the marina. Carolina & Pedro of the entertainment team were great - recommend the Poncha & Intro to Portuguese. My husband was injured while on site which was not ideal, more care for site facilities is needed as this could have been avoided. Following this the staff did everything they could to assist us in getting medical treatment and card - we are especially grateful to the staff, lifegaurd Orlando, Artur of the guest team and Joao the resort driver!

The property is beautiful and rooms were very nice. Pools were clean but freezing cold, as none are heated except in the spa and there’s no hot tubs either. Coffee shop was excellent, the young lady that works there was amazing. Gelato place was good. The sports bar left a lot to be “desired.” Workers were rude and after ordering drinks 2 times we never received them. Took an hour to get our food when we ordered before others who received theirs in a fraction of the time. The teppanyaki was amazing and our chef was a delight. Carvao was okay, ordered our steak medium and it came out well done. Buffet was subpar and dinner was often cold. Overall, this resort needs some work but it was fine for a few days.

Really lovely stay at this hotel

The set up and architecture of the village is great. Staff in sports bar, cocktail bar, Oishii, entertainment and spa were great. The coffee in the coffee bar was fab and the staff there were lovely. There was always a sunbed which was good. Food in Oishii and Beach bar was particularly good. Having to book your restaurant at 8am the day of eating is a pain. Thankfully I'm a morning person so not such a big issue but it meant you had to sit with your finger ready at 8am or there'd be nothing available. I only found this out from other reviews not from reception. Food in world Cafe always only like warm, even if you were the first there! Reception service was very hit and miss. We weren't told on arrival that our bracelet opened our door, only found out when we went to get a second key card. Waited about 15 mins at reception while someone went through the whole app with someone checking in, finally a lady (skipped me and attended a woman behind me first) came over and asked if she could help. She was the one told us we didn't need a card to open the door. I asked for a robe and she said no problem and put it into her phone, I never got a robe. The day of checking out I asked for a packed breakfast as our flight was at 6:30. I was told this was no problem so we were put down for 2 packs, again I watched her put it into the computer. The next morning when we went to get it there was no record of it and no packs. I was really annoyed as I'd left nuts and small snacks behind.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Lovely stay at Dreams Madeira We had a really lovely stay at Dreams Madeira. The resort was spotless, staff were friendly, and the atmosphere was calm and relaxing. I’d definitely recommend booking a Preferred Club room — it really elevated the experience. The time of year we visited was perfect, not too busy, and the evening shows were great. The only areas for improvement were the restaurant booking system, which wasn’t very straightforward (we could only book via reception as Preferred guests), and the sun-lounger cushions — they weren’t always available and, when they were, some were a bit mucky. Easy enough to fix with a towel, but slightly off-putting. Overall, a wonderful experience — we’d happily return!

The place was nice, the beach within the hotel is great, staff are all very friendly and helpful, and the activities held by the resort are lovely. However: The floor of our room was filthy and was never mopped by the staff when they cleaned during the time we were there. Two of us got food poisoning that lasted 24 hours (we only ate at the hotel). This caused one of us to be unable to attend the whale/dolphin watching and due to it being too short notice, we were refused a refund on the cost of the trip. There are no security cameras near the lifts and toilets, which is pretty worrying as a woman. We found this out because one of us accidentally left their handbag in the toilet near the restaurants for 30 minutes and upon returning, the contents of it had been stolen. The bar service is painfully slow, especially the bar near reception, easily waiting an hour to order and receive a drink.They also dont play music and it's just awkwardly quiet in there, but it's the only one open late. There is minimal evening entertainment and everything stops around 11pm. It's very dull. The Mediterranean restaurant was pretty bland, and the tappenyaki restaurant was nice but a pretty minimal effort from the chefs. The Aircon broke in our room on our penultimate night. We noticed in the morning that it no longer stayed on and just shutdown suddenly despite working fine before. As we were leaving early the next day we didn't bother raising this.

This place was amazing. I will be back and that's a fact. The negatives that people talk of should be taken like a pinch of salt. Yes there is a few little improvements here and there but on the whole the food was amazing the place was lovely and it's just a lovely place
