The closeness to the Sand Dunes yet no too close where we felt the wind from Lake Michigan.

Room had a dirty random sock in the corner when we got there. Our mimi fridge didn't work. Beds were rock hard. Bathroom has no vent so everything in the bathroom is rusty. Bathtub stopper didn't work. The hot tub ( the reason I chose this place) was down half the trip. The keys cards cant be placed by your phone or walet or they loose thier programming and stop working. They offcourse don't tell you this.

Chose this hotel for its proximity to the dunes and Silver Lake. check in and out was easy and staff were always pleasant. Our room was standard fare, nothing fancy but a clean place to lay your head with a lot of pillows, which is a nice touch. we had no weather issues during our stay and noticed the internet here isn't strong. water pressure was good and there were plenty of room amenities. the continental breakfast offered both hot and cold food items to start the day. the pool area is very large with tables and chairs and it is connected to a good sized outdoor area with a couple of picnic tables outside but the doors were locked from the inside of the pool area to access this area or walk completely around the building. There are no shade trees on grounds and no outdoor chairs like many hotels have, which was a disappointment bc the weather was beautiful and couldn't understand why not use that large outdoor area to its full advantage for customers, especially during the fall while its still warm out. Overall, its an average hotel, a bit dated and showing but at least its clean, the staff are nice and its a short drive to the lake and dunes

Checking in lady wasn't friendly quite cranky. Other staff at desk pleasant. Too many chemicals in pool. No elevator i have 2 bad knees. But was a nice place.

This is a beautiful property with excellent staff and beautiful pool and whirlpool. Only 2 complaints. The whirlpool was not hot at all the 1st nite, so I talked to Michelle, the night clerk and nite #2 it was wonderful. One recommendation, don't let wild boys in the WHIRLPOOL with pool noodles that were coming apart into pieces that will end up in the filter. And the chlorine was WAY too high in the whirlpool. The main pool was beautiful, clean and comfortable. The rooms were very clean, but not enough towels. Beautiful nicely decorated comfy rooms. Plenty of parking with super bright safety likes.Very much appreciate it we had our expensive bikes and many people had ATVS and UTES. And even some Dune buggies. Mediocre breakfast but plentiful with lots of options and great COFFEE. LARGE breakfast area with adequate seating. NO ELEVATOR.

Felt like everything was in the 1990s. No soap bars in room. No lotion in the room. TV remote with tape holding in the batteries. TV movies all from the 90s. 90s room phone (just like rotary dial but with push buttons). … It got the job done, but don’t expect extras.

Property was nice. Definitely needs some updates to rooms. My window didnt lock and there were no tv channels for kids in my room. The hot tub and pool was great. But, chlorine was very strong, burned my eyes. Just needed to open more windows in pool area. Complementary breakfast was great. When i went to check out and leave my keys the lady was very rude and looked at me like, "what do you need"? Not a great attitude.

Dunes Express Inn

Great location and hotel for your money. Right off the expressway, and had gas and food right there. Great breakfast, better than your typical continental. Eggs, meat, make your own waffles, fruit, etc. Pool was refreshing and the hot tub didn't disappoint. Even had tanning available, but didnt use it.
