Room was extremely tired looking. Paper hanging off the wall in several places, water leak from room above wet and stained ceiling. Shower cubicle leaked all over the bathroom. Room could do with a very good clean and redecorating. If we were staying more than one night, we would have looked for alternative accommodation. Breakfast was served in the hotel over the road, at 7.05 am all the cooked food was nearly cold.

It is our second stay at the Gainsborough and we love the area: lots of restaurants, close to the tube, on the Picadilly line so easy to get to and from Heathrow. More than adequate breakfast to start our day and 2 for1 cocktails to end it.

Violated and Outraged!

Dreadful stay. WiFi is pretty much non-existent, couldn't even pick up my emails on the laptop. The shower was tiny, barely any room to lift my arms or turn around. On my way out in the morning I mentioned the WiFi to the reception, in case they needed to reset their routers or something. I returned later that day for a shower, and whilst I was in the shower, I heard my hotel room door close. Someone had been in my room despite it being locked from the inside and there being a "do not disturb" notice on the door. Reception called shortly after to talk about the wifi problem - I assume this was some kind of maintainence service that entered my room without permission - and I complained to the reception on the phone to tell them it was outrageous that someone would just enter my room without permission whilst I was in the shower. They agreed. I then slammed down the phone. I feel violated and outraged.
