Right for Rye

We had a very pleasant stay. The hotel public areas and gardens and are decorated and kept to a high standard and the staff very helpful, friendly and well presented. The room we had was nice although the bathroom is a little dated and perhaps needs a refit. The food was good and reasonably priced.

Warm welcoming helpful staff. Nice building. Room stuffy, outdated and in poor condition including wallpaper about to peel and doors not shutting. Mattress very uncomfortable. My full English was cooked beautifully, but small. Pancakes tasteless.

Good value for what you get.

I am very torn about this review. The staff are very friendly but stretched. The hotel, bar and restaurant are a little tired but in no way dirty. The gym, spa and pool are really good. I noticed that a good number of rooms are under renovation and there is every chance for this place to be 10/10. Currently good value for what you get.

Mediocre

The room was a good size, but decor was tired. The bathroom was very old fashioned and not in good condition - cracked for tiles and missing towel rail. The room was quite hot, possibly because it was above the spa/gym. Surprisingly for a Spa hotel, there were no bathrobes. The restaurant was good, food nicely prepared and a reasonable menu selection. However, it is costly - possibly taking unfair advantage of lack of local competition.

Sadly, the shower in our room didn't work well, the overall condition is now tired (been staying for years), the service is very slow, and the chef tends to go “off menu, " meaning the dish ordered and served varies. The bed was ok, but the room was too hot, and there was no temp control or A/C, so I barely slept. It could be great again, but it needs a refurb. Finally, our car was damaged in their car park and the staff couldn't have cared less / borderline rude!

A failed booking on Hotel.com

The room was in an attic an old part of the building. We had to climb 3 floors. It was not comfortable at all. We only stayed ONE night of 4 booked. We didn’t have any food. I used the Spa facilities once and it was ok. The staff was pleasant unlike the one at the reception.on arrival. I was charged for one night as originally agreed. I should have been refunded for the 3 cancelled nights.

Beautiful facade, well located for local vineyard and friendly staff. Reception area well presented as was restaurant and garden next to it. Rooms and pool area very tired. Bathroom old and in need of updating but clean. Pool area was disappointing - hot tub s’elt strange and was very old. Tiny sauna in each of the changing rooms, not able to sit and relax with my husband as they’re were single sex.
