A total disappointment

Overall a very disappointing stay for my family and I wouldn't recommend the resort to anyone who appreciates good hospitality. The good about this place: Nothing memorable really, maybe except the nice uniforms of the receptionists. The bads: 1) Late check-in at 4pm on day of arrival; 2) Room wifi signal was almost non existent; 3) Both lifts were not working for most of the time we were there, making it a challenge for the elderly people and children with us. When asked, resort management said there was nothing they could do about it and what was more appalling was we were told that "normally only 1 lift would be spoilt"; 4) Reception could not be bothered with our repeated requests for a bottle opener even though they promised us to deliver it to the room; and 5) Overcharging for breakfast - we noticed that we were charged different prices for our 3-day stay. When asked, the receptionist initially acknowledged that we were overcharged for 2 of the 3 days. However the resort management subsequently retracted their words and said that we were undercharged for 1 of the 3 days. So instead of giving us a refund, we had to make additional payment. As we were in a rush to catch our flight, we did not bother to argue with them further. But it goes to show how the resort management deals with such issues.

needs significant improvement

the check in time was less than satisfactory (3pm), even though I had made prior communication with the resort. A further point is that we requested a check out at 1pm .which was accepted but we got a call in the room to leave by 12. A typical case of too many decision makers.Two final points- I called for the bell service- they did not come, in fact my went to the ground to fetch the bell trolley. We thern went on to physically take our baggage to the ground floor and fInally taxi. The public lift worked on arrival but failed thereafter and was shut down. our travel to our room was via the stair well. .

Nice facilities!

It is a good experience to stay at Langkawi. I stayed 2 nights and the best thing is the bed, which soft and clean. The facilities is quite good and the room is special

Review of Hotels.com & Langkawi Lagoon Resort

The hotel is good only from one perspective - It's near Cenang beach. If you have a plan to do a lot of water-sport then it's a better choice. Ours was a sea/hill view so, that way the room was good. Another good is is the breakfast. Following 2 major problems in the room: 1) Water pressure was too less in our room while taking the shower in mornings 2) Air conditioning placement in rooms is really weird. You need to wait for really long time for rooms to get cold 3) Reception staff is really Indifferent to these problems even though you highlight it to them. Another major issue with Hotel.com - We booked this room assuming that we will get a room with kitchen. However, hotel staff did not allow us to use kitchen at all saying there was a notice from local authorities not to use the gas in hotel rooms. We should have been informed about it by Hotels.com as I booked this hotel by talking to your customer care.

Good stay

Vey good stay with helpful and friendly stuff. The room, deluxe suite, was very clean and is perfect if you look for a nice stay with your partner. The breakfast was good, it contained western food such as croissants, jam, charcuterie as well as malaysian food. Facilities are good as well. Hotel residents are from various countries, particularly from arabic parts of the world. The only thing I didn't like was that people sometimes swam in the pool with their clothes, which is not ok from a hygienic point of view. Wifi is poor... Overall experience however is good!

i'm from UAE. i stayed in this hotel from 28/3/2015 to 1/4/2015 with my family. i booked three rooms. first of all the hotel location is amazing. you will feel your in honey moon. it's very big hotel. you can take as many pic's as you can, more than nice. you can order food to your room like italian food, it's very tasty and cheap, the breakfast has huge amount of food, it's soo good. if you want arabic resturant you will find with in the same hotel. it's called layaly Esham. very good. me and my family enjoy this hotel alot. by the way the hotel contain three hotels at the same time. one inside the sea ( made of Wood), one like tower building " the one you see in the main pic for the hotel in this website and one like villa's. that's why i like walking in this very big hotel. 100% you will enjoy it, most of the guest are honey moon couples.

Amazing all-rounded hotel, excellent service

My husband and I loved everything this hotel. The breakfast buffet was delicious, the range of food was huge and the best thing was the pool/ocean view whilst having breakfast- we looked forward to it every morning! The views whilst walking around the hotel complex were simply beautiful. Staff were always happy to help and everytime we needed anything it was promptly dealt with.

Great Hotel, Nice Room But Not Pleasing View!

Overall The Hotel is Nice and I recommend it to all!! The Hotel's Staff were very helpful, Facilities of the Hotel are in good condition. The disadvantage was only in the first impression! Check in was not good! I had to wait for a time then the receptionist informed me that my booking was't paid. And he had to take another 5 mins to confirm that it's fully paid. When I get my room, the view was not expected as I book a sea village suite. Even though the manager upgrade the type of the room but the view still the same. However, For sure I'll stay in Langkawi Lagoon again but I'll make sure that I'll have fully sea view suite. :)

Always waiting for service

When we arrived we were told our reservation was canceled because we didn't prepay. A credit card was given when the reservation was made and we received an email two days prior stating we had the reservation and no action was needed. We were not the only guests with problems at check in. Everyday we were there we saw unhappy guests trying to check in. Also, all other requests including housekeeping and tour booking took multiple calls and an unexceptable amount of extra time. Apart from a few friendly workers, the staff was unhelpful and unfriendly.

The hotel has both a new wing and an old wing. Stayed at the old wing, where is was a bit run down. Rooms are in need of a refurbishment. Cafe staff at the old wing cafe needs proper training as they are unable to handle most request efficiently. Ordered 3 hot chocolates and 1 coffee but when they came with the coffee, that was the time they told us there is no more hot chocolate. I was unable to leave because the coffee has already been served. Hence my family would have to wait without a drink for me to finish my coffee. Nevertheless, the concierge dept is very helpful. One of them actually gave us a lift to a nearby restaurant (~2km away) and came to pick us up after the meal. In conclusion, the hotel needs quite a bit of improvement before reaching a true 5 star hotel.

Good hotel, service could be better.

Good hotel with peaceful surroundings, secluded, so will need a taxi/own car for other activities. Facing a lagoon, so water mostly standstill, beach rocky, good enough for only dipping your feet, also water rather murky as being not open to sea but shielded by break water. Hotel maintained in good condition, but staff at reception a big let down, no response after even 3 calls on first night over a period of more than a hour, and bordering on arrogance next morning at reception desk. The hotel amongst its facilities lists a kitchenette but whose use is discontinued in all rooms due to a purported earlier incident of a major fire incident. The above combined with the secluded location may result in some inconvenience for families with small children. Also depending on room service/reception may not help the situation. The hotel has an Arabic restaurant & so is popular with people from the Middle-east who also seem to be a focus of this hotel. Ultimately a good hotel let down by its staff's attitude. Strongly recommend to rent your own car if staying here.
