I have travelled to Kuching many times and stayed at various hotels in this lovely city. I decided to try the the Ranee Suites on a whim. I did not regret that decision. The most stellar part of my visit was the staff. Very polite, well informed and highly responsive! I needed to extend my stay by half a day and although my room was not available, they got me a room and moved my bags in a jiffy. The room I had was huge! It was clean and very comfortable. The lighting was perhaps a little low but it was adequate. There is a need for more electrical outlets as there was only one available which had to be shared with the kettle. An outlet with a USB port next to the bedside works have been handy and perhaps the hotel can consider adding this at sometime. The room came with breakfast which was passable. Choices were quite limited. At the time I had breakfast, 8:30am, the restaurant was not crowded but service was slow. Only 2 staff were present and they were struggling to keep up with all the duties they had. The hotel is very well located right on the Kuching waterfront and is in easy walking distance of many attractions. Overall a really pleasant stay and this has become my favourite hotel in Kuching.

We loved the design and ethos of the hotel. It was in an excellent location, room was comfortable and spacious, and breakfast, though somewhat limited, was very good indeed. Our balcony looked onto an internal 'courtyard' which was in effect a public corridor, so we did not use it.

Kool in Kuching…

Perfectly central, near places of interest, restaurants and shops; 24 hour minimart few doors down. On the river for the bridge, boats and walking to all central locations. Helpful and friendly staff. Spacious suite and bathroom and a relaxed cultural feel to the hotel. Would happily stay here again.

Great location to many iconic places, especially to many local coffee shops/cafes. - Great team of friendly staff. & all staff on duties at the Front Desk do make an efffort looking out/friendly approach towards any one walked in to the hotel ensuring the safety for the hotel guests. - Staff of hotel restaurant & at the fruit store, taking ownership for their duties. Room with window into internal space curtain rail was locked so you could not close the curtain. Intermiittent buzzing in room. Misdirected showerhead meant you had stand on large cobbles to get under it. Poor breakfast

Positives 1.Extremely comfortable beds, we slept so well. 2.The water pressure in the shower was super strong. Wonderful shower. 3. Location is perfect. 4. Lovely patio area overlooking the library. 5. Wonderful service from reception. Negatives- breakfast I was so surprised how poor the breakfast was and this is something that could be remedied easily. The coffee was too weak (almost transparent). First morning i ordered the eggs and almost cried when i saw the quantity of food on the plate. That piece of garlic bread is insignificant and doesnt even taste good. Why not invest in sourdough bread and serve a thick slice with the eggs and maybe a sausage. Even the fruit in the buffet area looked a bit pathetic. Please upgrade your breakfast to match the quality of the rest of the hotel.

Beautiful rustic charm!

This hotel is surprisingly beautiful! The decor is a mix of rustic and modern. Excellent combination! The room is cozy and clean. Breakfast is at the ground floor called MBar Bistro. The selection is limited but it's good enough for me. The staff are friendly and helpful. At the side of the hotel is a small cafe that sells fruit juice or coffee. This hotel is located in a prime area of Chinatown and facing the waterfront. Highly recommended!

Beautiful property

Very nice hotel in excellent location. Very nice and friendly staff. We arrived late in the evening and check in was no problem. We were given a suite that was very large with wonderful antique furniture and ornamentation. Would very much recommend this hotel.

The suite was spacious with a balcony. The staff were very helpful. There are two things that let it down. The one could be remedied quite easily and make it excellent. This one thing is the breakfast. This is really not up to scratch. There is very little choice. The tea and coffee is in a glass pot constantly heating itself. Adding a little more fruit (at present it is either a pineapple or banana) and perhaps some yoghurts would be a start. The hotel is not suitable for people with mobility issues. The lift starts on the first floor and there are stairs to that. So carrying luggage would be an issue. Also the the lift does not go to the top floor suites and again there are 2-3 flights of stairs. It is in an excellent location but be warned it is noisy up until 11-11.30 with loud music that the windows do not protect you from.
