In a good location between Port Arthur and other sites such as Tasman Arch. Restaurant on site was good. We had a nice room with parking outside the door and a nice view of the end of Stingaree Bay.

Not as advertised - brown tap water

The room bathroom and kitchenette were not clean. The water in the room was not processed and was brown in colour. This was very off putting and we chose to forego a shower during our stay. The onsite restaurant was overpriced and the food was of average quality. I would encourage other travellers to seek alternative accommodation even if it means having to travel further afield.

Clean bedding the only good thing sadly. Rooms need a good clean and update. Limited menu and poor quality foods. Sorry to say that even if the food was free it wouldn’t help. Hate to complain but something needs doing to change this place. Don’t get me started on the brown water, bleach is a good cleaner

The restaurant offered a good range of food though a long wait after ordering. Ease of dining with accommodation metres away. Bottled water offered to compensate for tannin coloured water.

Nice place, interesting building, great view from room. Non drinkable water in room, yellowish water from shower, no coherent explanation why.

The property outlook is historic style . That’s special. Room decoration is old. Better improve. The biggest problem is the tap water is yellow, I can’t use this to bath, brush my teeth or cleaning face. The laundry becomes useless. Nobody wants to clean their clothes in such yellow water.

Annual pilgrimage

We make an annual trip to fox n hound. The location is great for exploring the area, staff is friendly and rooms are consistently clean. The hotel is dated but we find that’s part of the charm of the trip. Terrific views from sea side rooms.

Good value. Pleasant team

My comments reflect a time only a few weeks after new owners took over. It was a well appointed, spacious apartment. The location is beautiful. The furniture and fittings are a little tired. I would have liked to know about the water issue - we would have brought supply to prevent the need to use so many plastic bottles. The restaurant as comfortable and adequate, pleasant and enthusiastic staff. Limited menu if you have dietary needs.

The water issue wasn’t a problem for us, it’s just tea tree stained dam water. The view was amazing and bed was comfy. Our room could definitely do with a good clean and this hotel has the potential to be 4 stars with some love.

Good things: Nice location, peaceful accommodation. Not so good: Too expensive for what you get. Water in the room is yellow/brown and not suitable for drinking. Guest needs to rely on daily 2 x 600ml bottles per person are provided by hotel reception per day. Or buy extra bottles for $1 each. It's better to buy a pack from supermarket on the way. Housekeeper do not provide daily towels so make sure to place them for drying after use. Stay at your own risk and yourself and family from bugs mossies and snakes.

Beautiful view and great and friendly staff. The water is treated so it looks a little brown, and was not a fan of the 7 spiders making themselves at home in the bathroom, but overall it was a nice stay. The food at the restaurant is amazing, so even if you don't stay there, definitely recommend going for the food and service at the restaurant.
