We stumbled across Hunter Lodge at the last minute for an overnight stay and it was perfect. Very cool layout, accommodable staff, an indoor reading nook w/ fireplace. Perfect for a weekend getaway stay at Hunter

Hotel Dining area, and lounge had cozy fireplaces. Very nice bartender. Mattress had a bit of an uncomfortable dip. Loved my view from bed of mountain. Tip: pre-order from your hotel room and pick up Fellow Mountain Cafe latte and Cinnamon roll, etc, otherwise, prepare for a very long weekend wait. Staff there were all working nonstop. My roll was worth the wait! I was lucky to get the last one.

The heavy smell of ganj smoke walking through the hall wasn’t a good first impression. After being in the room for less than 15 mins we couldn’t avoid hearing the next door guests and seeing them through the window so we asked to switch rooms. They gave us a hard time even though the hotel was clearly vacant as it was during off season. They charged us a fee to switch. Could still smell the smokers at night from opening the window. Awoke the second morning to the sound of the fire alarms.

The stay was great! We only stayed one night coming back from further upstate to view the eclipse but we kept saying how much we enjoyed the room/lodge. We arrived late at night, after the front desk staff went home for the night, but the front desk reached out beforehand with detailed instructions on how to access our room and who to contact if there was an issue. The inside is very nice, and extremely cozy. The views from any room (front or back) were great with mountains all around.

Hunter Lodge is a good location to visit all the attractions. The property is very well kept and the staff are very friendly. Restaurants and attractions are only a few minutes away.

This Inn is absolutely adorable! The bunk bed room is perfect for families, the lobby/lounge area is warm and inviting with cozy fire, old-fashioned games and books. The restaurant/bar area is cozy as well - we snagged the table by the window for Mountain views. It’s just minutes from Hunter ski resort so super-convenient. The only things I’d say could be improved is the lighting in the room (I had trouble seeing to dig things out of my suitcase. and the mattresses were not the most comfortable (maybe switch up to memory foam?). Still a great place; I’d definitely return if headed to that area again!

Disappointed that fireplaces were shut down by 6 PM and not started again until after eight in the morning. Even though it is off-season, I would have expected coffee and tea to be available to be made around the clock.
