My room was dirty blankets were disgusting and had not been washed and the room was covers with cockroaches .

Pay to play

Pros: Quite and cool with a great view.
Cons: I had asked for Coffee in my room from the Maid and the Front office ( 2 times ) Never got it.
Location: See Steve at Equus Rides!
The setting was nice, One draw back was the Maintenance being done on our building. the Staff was friendly overall. However it seemed that $$ was the driver. get off the Resort and go explore.

St. Croix is most beautiful with an abundance of adventures- I hope you had the opportunity to hike to the tidal pools. Beautiful resort but rooms need upgrading!

The Carombola is located on the North Shore. You definitely need a car as the location is a good 30 minutes from both towns. Grounds and beach are great but the rooms could definitely use some upgrading for the price. We Stayed in 161 and the Room was dark with poor lighting. The regular full size refrigerator had been replaced with an apartment size that did not work very well (bought ice cream and it melted in the freezer section). The AC was one you would find In a cheap motel. It was very noisy and not efficient. The lighting in the bathroom/shower was even worse. Lamps were wobbly and had to be supported by the wall. Bed was not very comfortable for a Marriott owned property. Really expected much more regarding the accommodations. Make sure you ask for one of the rooms with the extra window as they provide more light. Not all rooms have them. This will definitely help with the light. Plus was the great screened porch that overlooked the beachfront. That too needed some updating as the cushions on the seats were worn and not very comfortable. The restaurant and hotel were great. Buffet breakfast was good. Only would give this place a 3.5 stars because of the rooms. Definitley a diamond in the rough!

Beautiful resort on the beach

The resort is beautiful and clean. Hotel staff very helpful and friendly. The hotel is very secluded so be prepared to rent a car or use a taxi to get around the Island. The hotel will arrange taxi service for you. I traveled alone and the staff made me feel welcomed. I would absolutely stay at this hotel when I return to St. Croix.

Great honeymoon destination

Pros: It is a very picturesque resort in a beautiful part of the island, with a very nice beach.
Cons: Transportation to and from the resort is expensive. We highly recommend renting a car for your stay.
Location: The location, although isolated, is within a short distance to nearby sights. We recommend a Buck Island tour and a visit to Christiansted.
We arrived late on a Monday night, and after getting through some confusion on our expected arrival, were given a free upgrade to a room with an ocean view. The room was on the second floor, offering more privacy, and had everything we needed - a refrigerator, stovetop, microwave, and a safe for valuables. (We highly recommend the kitchen units, as eating out is expensive on St. Croix). The whole facility was kept very clean and maintained very well. The entire staff from the front desk to the groundskeepers was extremely friendly and very professional. The food and drinks at the restaurants were very good, although quite pricey - the only real negative for the resort. We caught some of the entertainment - a band doing classic rock - and enjoyed it. The beach was spectacular, and there is a nice trail to some tidal pools if you have a few hours to spend. Overall, we were very pleased with our whole stay. When we went to check out, there was the same confusion with our expected departure - we can only guess that there was some mix-up with Travelocity. Things worked out okay in the end.

After 16 years we return again!

Pros: The location, the resort and the beach!
Cons: Be more aware of collecting trash that attracts the bees Room #252: A door needs to be installed the toilet area & a night stand for both sides
Location: The Diving in Davis Bay was so easy from the Carambola The Waves Restaurant was outstanding Gotta go to the Cruzrum Factory! Samples are fun!!
16 years ago my husband and I traveled to St. Croix and stayed at the Carambola Resort! It was our tropical oasis and paradise away from Texas! Everything about the resort and the island was perfect! 16 years later we returned and found the resort exactly the same (with some obvious upgrades). From the time we arrived until the day of our sad departure everything and everyone was WONDERFUL!! We are only sorry that we stayed away so long. We are hoping that it doesn't take us 16 years to come back again, but when we do we will sure stay at The Carambola!! PS - we loved Mark and Laura who are part of the Sweet Bottom Dive - - they were awesome in helping us have a FANTASTIC experience on our 2 dives!!!
